Just got this for all of $2.10. One of the best Art Deco designs I've ever seen on a '40s tie.

Thanks very much! IMO, there are very few vintage '20s-'50s ties that have definitive Art Deco designs. In my 25 years of searching, I've ended up with four or five, tops. In most cases, the ties' designs are 'watered down' Deco, I'd say.



Below are three ties (and one evening waistcoat) of mine from the late 1920s. IMO, they are very representative of early, European-influenced Deco design:

All solid neckties, Marc. I especially like the top one, but are you sure it is '20s? With that lining, looks later. At any rate, great design.

Sure as rain. Lined ties did exist in the '20s. (See below.) The lining in this one is silk satin.

Another thing about later 1920s ties: more often than not, they're only about 3 1/4 to 3 3/8 inches wide. Ties of the '30s tend to be about 3 1/2 inches wide.

Interesting. I think I saw that one but forgot to bid on it. Interestingly, the word Mausoleum comes from Mausolus and his tomb creation.

The Van Cruise line was one of the best parts of their tie collection as far as I am concerned.
Are you going to collect the other six wonders ties now?
