Nice. Great colors. Now bring on the cooler weather. Would one normally wear a wool tie in warmer months? I don't really guess it would do much to keep you warm. It is a handsome tie though.

I picture this as a cold weather tie? Maybe wearing with a rougher texture blazer?

I don't know really.

Does anyone know when this was made? 1940's?

^^By the labels and cut, it appears to be 1940s. Yeah, it's more of a cold-weather tie. (Hut was a small manufacturer that turned out some nifty ties; I have one in my collection.)

Although these are currently in the Classified thread (first and last are already on hold), I thought I'd post them for you fellows' perusal:



On the left is a "molecular" patterned-tie, with a light tan background and tan/brown motifs. Inside the front blade is handwritten in light, Kelly green, "Created by 'Emogene' San Francisco All Silk."

Next is a tie which is perfect for someone whose name begins with N (some of the Ns are in a blue circle, some in a very light purple circle). This deadstock necktie still has its "SAKS-FIFTH AVENUE" tag attached to it, as well as a Saks label on back of the rear blade. What is really unique about this tie is its brocade; if you look very carefully at the second photo, you can see in the left corner of the blue field a cane and walking sick, and in the right corner there is top-hatted man dressed in what appears to be Regency-era clothing.

Last is a near-mint Arrow tie, with a vibrant, deep copper background, an emerald green chevron, and burnt orange lozenges; brocade is a kind of "explosion." Feels like rayon/acetate.

Reminds me of several vintage uniform ties I have. Is it a uniform tie or just a solid color tie?

Nah, just a black tie. You find a lot of them, being the one thing that everyone had - just in case - but had to wear on very few occasions. I've got about 15 of the buggers!

 

[Two Types]

The ubiquitous funeral tie. I've got a few. When my dad died I looked in his wardrobe, thinking I would wear his black tie to his funeral. imagine my pleasant surprise to discover it was a black Tootal!
