[Two Types]

I had to buy this tie. I am guessing it dates from the late 1940s, maybe early 1950s. It is a British tie that is desperately attempting to be American! Made by 'Ensign' and is called 'The Road to Ruin':

I had a bit of a tie buying session in this last week (again!).

This one is so typical of British early 1950s design. I remember people having dinner plates and curtains with designs like this on them:

A rather standard terylene tie, probably late 50s/early 60s:

A French tie, guessing it's from the fifties:

I own a number of these painted/printed suede ties, but this is the first I have seen with a pointed end. I adore it. Irresistable:

I like simple ties like this one by 'Grenville'. They are unobtrusive yet stylish. I am guessing it is 1940s, maybe earlier (it is fairly short):

That's ok - fast cars have never been one of my vices.

A 'deadstock' Tootal with a distinctive striped pattern. I seldom see striped Tootal ties so i couldn't resist:

I only bought this one since I don't have many yellow ties:

Small world! I have this same tie, but in brown. Mine has the label of a store in Australia!

What would your guess be for the date? I was thinking late 40s. It reminds me of the sort of ties worn by lowlife criminal characters in British crime thrillers of the period.

Yes. It certainly feels like suede. I have four or five similar ties. I guess they are European and from the 70s. I was given one by my father in the mid 1970s after he returned from a holiday in Spain. That fell to pieces a year or so back, so I've been hunting for some replacements.

If you have louder ties then I'd Like to hear them.

^^I second that! Stacy Adams is especially popular with Black men, many of which have for a long time been known for being hep dressers.

This is very true, most people who compliment me on my ties (and general bold look era clothing) are in fact black men.

The Madison's aren't that bad. It is just not a shoe that you want to wear everyday. You'll wear the heck out of them.

I wear the heels and soles out pretty fast anyhow. If their suits weren't mostly Polyester, some of them are pretty slick. Though I dunno if I'd look right dressed like a fruitberry. They make well crafted ties, very long but well made. I just tuck the end into my pant waist. The tie doesn't even wrinkle when I do it. You get your moneys worth.

Does anyone know who kingcharmer is ,on ebay ,he has the most incredible ties I have ever seen and I have been collecting for 20 years!So far I have bought about 6 of his but now he is bringing out the big guns!Prices are astronomical but some of them are quite extraordinary museum quality,far better than run of the mill Dali's!!
