Now speaking of classic, vintage, American-made neckties, boys, check this lot which jamespowers notified me of. If the seller, Ron Dyer (author of the book, "Fit to Be Tied") gets what he is asking, P.T. Barnum's oft-quoted adage applies as much as ever.

Yeah, $30 a tie is way over your $3 quota there. The listing has been removed by the way. The guy probably realized he was smoking too much dope at that Hollywood party last night.:eek:
Are you sure you didn't write him a message offering to buy the whole thing? :p

I tried to send him a PM, but e-Bay wouldn't allow me to! (Hey, but at least the shipping was free...)

Probably because the sound of his little proviso at the end of the product description was extremely off putting:

'Please note that the photos illustrate just a hint of the various types of designs offered and not the actual ties in the collection.'

I'm sure the ties he was planning on selling were indeed fantastic, but who wants 166 seemingly 'random' ties?

Yeah, the birds is nice. Probably late 1930s, no?

But the one i'm really interested in is the one at bottom left. Ghostfaces inside circles. Red John-esque? (dunno if anyone watches The Mentalist or not)

I have another lot on the way: a bunch of 30 that "were found in a plastic bag; no attempt to press or clean them." There are a bunch there that look great and probably 1930s. I think they're all probably of the same age; i'll post here when I get the lot.

exactly, for that money - $30 a tie or so - you're looking for all of them wearable and nothing short of every one being a Haband, at least. With several high quality hand painteds, a Dali, maybe?

Not 166 no-name beat up or towncraft acetate numbers that I suspect you would get in this lot.

Finally, somebody sticks up for Haband!:eusa_clap But what's the slap against Towncraft, Baron?[huh]
