Esteban68, do show us the full regalia on your next tweed run with your new leggings! I have a favorite tweed jacket myself.
Here is my latest find: a lovely leather writing folder. What would be the proper name for such a thing? Any suggestions for age? There is no maker's mark anywhere, unfortunately. Measurements when closed: 8" x 11". Also, it's obviously missing the pen... what would have been in the keeper on the left by the plastic window? (My only idea thus far is a letter opener.)
They're called portfolios, or folio-cases. I used to have one. Until my dad asked for it, since he needed it for something...Dunno where it is, now. Very nice to have, though.
Oooh, I'm very excited about my latest find: a set of sixBerkey & Gay dining chairs. There are five side chairs and one chair with arms. All are marked 1906 (model number?, production year?) except the arm chair, which is marked 1906 and then has a sideways 2. I think possibly this was originally a larger set and there were two arm chairs??
The Berkey & Gay mark is impressed into the wood and I believe these chairs date from the early 1900's. Berkey & Gay wasn't known for their Arts and Crafts furniture and didn't seriously delve into the style -the linked source states, "A few Arts and Crafts style suites were introduced in the first decade of this century (1900s)... but generally speaking Berkey & Gay passed on the whole movement"- but I think these are beautiful and well worth the $70 for the set. It shouldn't be too much trouble to make up some seats for them, and their condition is phenomenal.
