Where the heck do you people buy stuff from the 1930s-50s!?

Florsheim Imperial v-cleats were found on ebay. Thrift stores are [sometimes] a good source.

It helps to know what you want. Sellers often don't know enough to post an item as vintage.

On the other hand, some sellers seem to think everything is vintage.

My best/worse e-bay sale

These are the vintage 40's Horsehide Chippewa Engineer boots in the above photo (bottom right boot near mirror) - I sold them on ebay for 699.99 buy it now and to this day regret that sale. Those will forever be my dream boots. What a great deal, but a bad loss on my part. Instead, I turned around and purches The Real MCcoys horsehide Buco Engineers from Japan for a grand.

Hey Shoo,

I have the same pair up for auction now on eBay. Size 10.5 A. In fact I have two pairs listed, one black and one in the chestnut color.

Any luck with the size?

e-Bay, persistence, dedication, product knowledge...

e-Bay: self explanitory
persistence: hours upon hours of searching on e-Bay, yahoo auctions, vintage on-line shops...
dedication: how much are you willing to spend on trying to find that "perfect" piece?
product knowledge: I have purchased so many amazing, rare, expenisve articles of clothing, furniture, etc. for pennies just becuase the seller did not know the treasure they had. If you have a leg up and know your stuff, you'll be amazed at what you can find.

Rather than start a new thread every time I win/purchase something, I'm sticking with the old threads. I like being able to find a lot of information in one thread.

I don't like them particularly, and they are definitely not vintage, but I just bought a pair of brand new and unworn Paul Smith Bath boots for 10 GBP in a local charity (goodwill) shop. They are 700 Canadian Dollars new and I can't resist a bargain...

Here is a review from a shoe blog...
They're so expertly constructed, they fit like a dream, as I would hope any $700 boot would fit. I'm personally quite glad I've waited this long to invest in a new pair of shoes this season and hopefully my size doesn't disappear too quickly.

I never get carried away to that extent, but they are hand made in a top Italian workshop and I did save 358 Canadian Dollars!
