Sometimes, I was sort of envious of the US thrift stores which we don't have in Germany (or at least verrry seldom). I always thought you often get chances to buy nice vintage stuff at reasonable prices, and I don't.

But now, I'm quite satisfied with some finds from the local 3-times-a-year indoor flea market. yay!

Some kind of cloth, probably a table cloth. It's a bit more 60s than I usually want, but I just love the turquoise and pink pattern, so I had to get it.
Two scarves, Rosie-size - I just love the one with the cows and edelweiss, and it's brand new, still has the "made in Switzerland" sticker on it.


A purse (not sure if leather), two broches (at least one of them not vintage, but happily to be combined with vintage), a pack of traveling hangers, and some cute buttons (sorry for the double, but I luv'em!):

The faux pearl broche is to be matched with some earrings I got earlier.
The mother of pearl and the marcasite seem real to me. It's not really a broche, but some sort of a clip, probably for a scarf.


And this is what I like most because it fits although there was no chance to try on or even check the measurements (it was a battlefield! we really have this sort of event too rarely).
Can be worn with or without button-in collar.

Sorry for my hair, face, and bad photo, I was too happy to bother about it. It looks as if it was too tight in the top area, but that's only cause the buttons aren't in the right places. I will add one or two little push buttons, and it'll be just fine. Also, it's a little too short, but there's about an inch to be let out. I'll probably get rid of the tassel on the belt.
It's most likely 70s but I think it'll pass for 50s. I'm SO happy that it fits!

Along with these items, I got a blouse (doesn't fit), a photo album and a very cute night gown (fits).
All together for about 6 Euros.

I finally got lucky and got these for a really good price, after stalking them for months Mine are the light tan colour though, but couldn't find a good image.

Here's what I won last night! I've been hankering after one of these celluloid chains with charms for aaaages! So I'm really happy. It was super cheap too. Any idea of age?!

Hey there LinaSofia - super necklace. I can't see the picture on your blog though. Dita's necklace looks to be the real deal as it has the green stalks. The way to tell the vintage forties ones from the fakelite ones, is that the stalks are dark brown/black, on the modern ones mostly, also the end of the stalk comes out and is tied in a knot at the bottom of the cherry, whereas the real ones have the cherry attached to the stalk, like a real cherry would be if that makes sense. I have a fakelite cherry brooch, that i bought from my vintage jewellery lady who gets them in france. Cost me a fraction of the price of the real thing and is just as cute. Alas the real ones are a pretty penny, (she told me that is the way to check the difference). Still for twenty dollars you did well!

I've been intrigued by that chain link style and found an Etsy seller in SF who had one... then I looked at her feedback, and apparently she's had about a 100, so I'm not so sure they're authentic. Her prices are more than I'd want to pay for non-vintage. I searched "celluloid necklace" and that's how it popped up.

I think I know who you mean - initially when I saw her cherry necklaces I was thinking how rare and fab they were and then she seemed to have batches of new ones every week - I think they are really sweet but if they aren't authentic I would have to pass.....

thanks! Oh I had no idea how to check the difference between real vintage or modern! Thanks for that! With this one I have no idea.. it doesn't even have stalks! Just bunches of red beads... perhaps it's not authentic then? oh well! At least I didn't spend that much on it and it's cute enough in my opinion, for the prize.

This thread is fun, though it's hard to keep up with! At times I steer clear of it to not be tempted to spend money... Thanks for complimenting my coconutty bag LinaSofia haha!). You all have tip top taste, and it's fun to see things i never knew existed (like that kind of dressing gown, Miss Golightly!).
