Thanks for your reply. We visited Trier several years ago by chance. Visiting Daughter in Vilsek and took a side trip to Trier and was truly amazed by the history and beauty of the city. Would recommend a must visit to Trier if ever in Germany. Will pull up a few more photos for you to enjoy.

Thanks for the photos. I lived in Bavaria and we travelled a lot in southern Germany and Austria, never really got to know the north. Funny thing is whereas most of the folk concentrated on German WWII history, I got hooked on the history of the Roman frontier of Germania instead.

Vilseck is a nice place too and not far from Nurnberg, a real nice place as well. We lived further north, twenty odd miles from the border with East Germany.
