Here's my first and only bike. I have had it about 2 months, it's currently waiting on the exhaust valves to be redone by the machine shop.
1982 KZ 1100

Hope to have it running by the end of January. I have always wanted a bike and this is the first one that I've stumbled across that was with in my budget.

Nice. Years ago I had a 99 zx-9r. Probably not so fast by today's standards but was quick enough for me. I topped it out in 6th gear a few times. Ahh, good times.

Yes Sir, nice Kaw. I sold my '78 Suzuki GS1000 last spring and I really miss it. They really are lovely things, those UJM's (Universal Japanese Motorcycle).

As for helmets, I prefer a full face but I'm not a safety nazi. Just make sure that you get something that fits properly. Oh, and cost isn't necessarily a factor in safety. Not long ago, an under $100 helmet tied for first place with an over $500 helmet in a safety test.

Shadow with sidecar

Used to be in the lounge but left for a while. When I was catching up over holidays and saw PilotGuy's Pearl White 2007 Shadow, I knew I had to respond, so I re-upped.

Here's my 2007 Shadow Aero that I bought on Labor Day, 2008, brand new with a Motorvation sidecar on it. I love my Shadow Queen. Now has a Switchblade windshield on it.(Oops, second pic has the windshield on it.)

Yes, with my jacket, goggles, and white half helmet, teenagers do slow down and buckle their seatbelts when they see me LOL, especially since I put the headlight modulator on it. Want to change the sidecar headlight for a spotlight with a headlight in it and put a modulator on that, too. That'll get 'em {grin}.

Been waiting for a WWII German submarine coat (Southbeach leather)to come in to go with my 1931 high-top, lace-up cavalry boots (WhatPriceGlory) and my German/Soviet/etc. leather motorcycle hood (thank you, ebay LOL) so I can take a picture with the white biplane hangared where I work (technical college at a former air base). THAT will become my avatar when the weather gets nice here.

BTW, the avatar was my dad's unit in WWII (113th Observation Squadron).

lol. when i used have my Gold Wing (blue/blue), and rode it with a black leather jacket and retired local police helmet, cars would quickly move right when I came up on them in the left lane.

Great Pics Professor! As a young kid, I grew up in Bryan-College Station as my dad was an A&M alumi and worked on the campus in the administration at some level (was too young to recall). He passed in 1977 and then we moved up to East Texas, in Hallsville. I was then back down near you when I was stationed at Fort Hood in the army (1992-94). Your pics make me homesick...!

Here's another from my garage for the delectation of Loungers....

It's an AJS G6 of 1926, one of the first series-production overhead-valve motorcycles. 350cc, lighter than I am, all the 'right' bits and goes as good as it looks. Sadly it doesn't stop as good as it goes though.

With your interest in Yamaha 650s are you a member of The Yamaha 650 Society?

My current Yamaha is a '72 XS650.

Bought it on Ebay in 2003. I flew to Kansas City to get it. Rode it home to where I was stationed at the time, Sumter, SC, stopping at a Society rally in the Smokey Mountains on the way, including riding the Dragon.

I too had a 78 GS1000E, black with a white stripe and orange pinstripes. I put a Vance & Hines header on it re-jetted it and it ran great. I also added a brand new tank cause the original rusted out. In 77 I traded it in for my first HD, it sure looked pretty sitiing on that showroom floor!

Thomas, after going back and looking at your RK a little more closely, didn't I notice the footboard has been scraped some, and that the footboard bracket has some rust on it where it has been scraped? I normally see that only on bikes ridden by current or former motor officers who do a lot of slow speed work in tight areas.

I'm not an officer past or present but I've been known to drag the boards a bit from time to time! I think what amazed me most about the Harley Touring bike family was the low speed maneuverability, my first impression was that something that large and heavy would handle large and heavy but they are amazingly nimble.

Here's some photo's of my bikes.
After years of riding moto-x bikes as a kid, this one is me as a dumb 19 year old kid and my 1st real bike a 1950 G9 Matchless

then I went to Art School and got my first Indian, I got it when I was 21 from New Zealand's Mr Indian - John Cresswell. He had bought 5 unmolested crates of Army Indian spares and put together 3 bikes, me buying the first one, so in a way I had a brand new 41 741B in 1990!

At 24 I gave my fiance my 741B as an engagement ring in return I got this 46 Chief

We spent a number of years in london so got a 1964 BSA A65 to tool around on.

I never got rid of the 46 Chief, I've had it 18 years and love as much as the first day I got it.

^^^ Thanks! It's great to be able to get some motorcycle time for the Highwayman. After seeing some of the above bikes I think I am really getting the itch.

A classmate of mine was looking into getting a 50s Matchless. I can't wait to see it if he gets it. He'd be buying it from England.
