I've got a few lighters. Been a while since I've been lighter collecting, this thread is will probably not end well for my wallet now.
My Ronson lighters. The top to work. The Vanguards I plan on getting to work at some point.
My Dunhill rollagas, works.
My unknown lift arm lighter, missing a wick and the part you spin to light does spin very well.
these Imco lighters were produced in Oeynhausen, about 30 km south of Vienna until about 1990 when the plant was closed. There were several similar styles, the one you show could be equipped either with a pressurized tank for liquid propan/butan or with a simple metal tank for ordinary lighter fuel.
I don't know if these lighters are still produced somewhere in eastern Europe, but here around Vienna sometimes tobacco shops still have some stock - price is about 5-10€.
Thanks for the info tomtom42. I'm thinking I got this probably late 80s/early 90s time frame. I think I gave around $10 USD. for it. I did not know it could also be filled with pressurized fuel.
Yes, there were replaceble tanks (made of mostly plastic) that imho could be used instead of the "standard" fuel tank...
Btw, the company appearantly still exists, but nowadays they only make paperclips (since 2012) - after making lighters for 94 years
It's authentic. I had that one (and one in sterling silver) in my collection, which I sold off around twenty years ago. I'll check with the auctioneer to see if they have any photos on file. If so, I'll post them here.
It is indeed a real one, and a nice one at that, and at a great price. I restore and collect Dunhill lighters, and actually just finished restoring one very similar to this. I have carried a silver one almost every day for the past 10 years, it's the most consistent and classy pipe lighter, and holds a refill of gas for a LONG time. By the way, always use Dunhill flints and gas - other stuff gunks up the interior.
If you ever need any work done on it let me know. Either I can do it or I'll hook you up with someone in the UK that's good.
