Horace, the Mini 14 is a big time favorite of mine. Those little rifles are built like tanks, I have seen them survive abuse on the catwalks and towers of a maximum security prison that would have destroyed most rifles. They are "minute of irritant" accurate and stick with the factory mags unless you plan on having to exchange aftermarket ones to ones that are reliable.

The Mini 14 it is for me then. Will be my next purchase. I love the fact that it comes in NATO .556, yet it has a cool retro look. Almost like a .30 caliber carbine from WW2.
Couldn't help but notice that when Atticus whacked that mad dog, the rifle had absolutely NO recoil! Or maybe it was just his technique??

You should buy it because:


1. It would save me from myself - I am sorely tempted.

b. I would know where it is should my finances ever recover from this housebuilding project.

iii. It needs some TLC....but not too much.

Mike, I would sure want to handle that 1911A1 at Jackson before I bought it. Some of those Argentine's Colts can be a bit questionable.

I agree with Renault, I would want to see that one in person before I bought it. Most Sistema's I have seen are pretty worn. If you can find a good one though they are cool pistols.

so the U.S. made Colts are still regarded as 'Systemas'? I've had some good deals from J.A. - I think I may be getting over this one tho'.
I was reading something by Ken Hackathorn who was bemoaning the fact that some of his students didn't own 1911's ....even if they didn't bring them to his classes and I thought it might be time for me to own (another) one as I'm out right now, of course I don't even own a 'Hi-Power' at the moment either!

Weren't the argentine colts Systema M 1927? Or am I thinking of the Ballister Molina? Which is a totally different( internally) gun. Really closer to a Star auto.

Mike, from the photo you posted that gun looked like it had lots of wear and tear on it. Kinda hard to say. But when they look like that on the outside, as a rule of thumb, the insides leave lots to be desired too! Like FP hole. Cracked frames & slides, Etc.

Mike, I took some classes in the early 80's with Mr. Hackathorn and all of us in the classes had some version of a 1911.

Did some brushing up recently in another class and I was the only one with a 1911 (as well as a large caliber)
... I'm getting old.

This is the... only thing I can have that resembles a lever action and shoots something since gun laws in my country are very restrictive.
It's a CO2 air gun made by Walther-Umarex.

It have a drum like in a revolver where the pellets are put. Working the lever to rotate the drum and fire a pellet. At first sight it looks a Winchester 1894

Never seen a pullet lever gun before. Kind of a neat concept of how it works with the lever. How is the accuracy..??
