Hmmm. Might be a turkey, but it was relatively cheap. Weird, old, lilac-coloured British summer blazer. I think it's men's. If not, the buttons and boutonniere hole are on the wrong side for women's. Apparently it was used until recently in a theatre wardrobe:

Yes, I saw that one and couldn't help but wonder on its origins. The pockets are so low it just makes it appear feminine. The colour doesn't help, but everything about the shape and cut made me think of a women's jacket.

You should have a look at some historical photos of women's sports teams. Maybe that will help.

Will look good with a nice pair of white flannels. But not the sort of jacket to wear to the pub in Glasgow/Stoke/Chatham etc.

Well, if it's women's I'll pass it on in classifieds. The proportions (18" shoulders) make me think it's mens. I'll find out when I get it in late July.

I thought Edwardian as well HBK. Also, the shorter stye of jacket seems to be more popular in that era for sporting blazers/jackets. I think it is a great colour, will look good on you Baron.

Yes, I agree that it's probably Edwardian. One reason I bought it is because, though boating blazers are not too scarce, very old ones are not too common.

I really like the colour - I painted one room in my house exactly this shade of lilac - and think it will go very well with my 1920s flannels (which have, incidentally 24.5" cuffs; huge for my size 6 feet), and that lime green shirt you got for me, Ben. Again, not much chance to wear it - I might need to take a jaunt to the seaside when I get back to Blighty!

I'd love to see pictures of the flannels with the 24.5 inch cuffs. Myself and HBK are doing some research on 1920s trousers and sight of those trousers would be good, next time you get the chance.

I think a bit latter actually Baron in my opinion. It is interesting to see the early Burberrys label as well. My thoughts strangely are around the 1936-38 period, yet I may be off. Just the lapels and trousers waist band. The earlier suits I have do not have such full lapels.

What a corking suit though! Would love to own it!

Yes it was a lovely suit. I have noticed that on the Burberrys Macs, they often have a date and customer name label under the large Burberrys label. I have never seen one yet with the date fillled in!

I could not remember my password and the email it was registered to was long gone!

excellent shots.
TT, you've heard me say this before but i'll say it again for anyone who hasn't heard it; the mid 20s in England (once the forward-looking wider trousers arrive) hardly looks any different to the mid 30s. only the narrow button stance on that DB suit really stands out as earlier.

in the first photo they appear to have pocket watches dangling from their lapels. in the second photo... medals ?
