Thank you! Gave up sewing for years because of a 30lbs weight gain. I was outside the most common vintage pattern sizes and I am terrible at resizing. I'm back down to a 1930s size 20, heading for an 18! So happy I can sew again.

Congratulations -- and how'd you lose the 20? I'm under doctors' orders to do the same, and am sick of living on tuna fish out of the can.

Recording my calories on MyFitnessPal, eating most of my calories from protein, and running almost every day. I actually eat MORE and am losing like crazy. I used to only eat cereal, pizza, and sushi. Took out the first two...lol. I used to like my beer, too. Gave that up. I used to not eat enough and what I did eat was empty carb calories. I taught myself how to "eat right". Sounds cliche/silly, but it's true.

A year to lose 20. I started the regime on December 30, 2012. I was 170 lbs. Unacceptable for me. I hadn't weight that much since high school (20 years prior!!) But I had some bad things happen 2010-2012, when I gained all the weight. I am now pretty much stress-free, which helps.

1930s-style skirt I freestyled:

It hangs off my waist because of my 20 lbs weight loss (I made this a year ago!)

Amy Jeanne, what lovely pieces. I especially love Simplicity 1609. Is the fabric modern or vintage? I think it's simply adorable!

Those are just adorable! Sadly I haven't been blessed with such talents and have to buy things ready made :embarassed:
But..it works for me. I do envy those of us who have the skills.

Modern fabric, available at fabric.com :) I plan to make this dress several more times in all different fabrics! I love it. Perfect for spring!
