I am curious. How many of you ladies wear just your handmade clothing or at least one piece everyday? How many of your own creations do you have?

I have a closetful of dresses and skirts I have made, a few tops, and a couple jackets. I go through phases of wearing my homesewn things, and usually wear the dresses in the summer, when its cold here I'm not so motivated.

I wear mine everyday. The only time I wear RTW is when I'm cleaning/gardening, ect. Even with my handmade t shirts, I can't stand the thought of my handmade garments getting wrecked.

I only have a few handmade creations (working on that- I made 5 skirts last year, working on a few boleros, dresses, and suits this year) but I've decided that I am going to concentrate more on things I get the most wear out of. I used to only make very fancy dresses (think weddings and historical outfits) but I've realized that I can't show them off, because I don't wear them that often.

I've also realized that my handmade stuff is at least as good in quality as the stuff you buy, if not better. It's tough enough to take daily wear.

Kamikat, I figured you wore your clothes often. You've made so many wonderful pieces. :)

Ok I think I need to hide this pattern from myself. lol So far I have made two pairs of jeans and four pairs of shorts. I made these two shorts today and added a little embroidery to the jeans last night. I just did the large cherries not the small ones. ;)

I made a duvet cover and pillow shams for our guest bedroom this week. I wasn't a fan of my old one so here is what I made

Ok, SheBear, you finally made me stop procrastinating and buy that pattern! Can't wait to make a pair...or two or three! The embroidered cherry on the pant leg is just too cute!

I hope you like it as much as I do! :D

I made this today from a Project Runway pattern. I totally goofed up the top part cause I didn't follow the indstructions and stay stitch around the top. When it was all done everything fit but the top was sticking way out. At that point I was in no mood to tear it all apart which is why there is that odd seam on the side :p I can live with it but will make sure to stay stitch next time!!! lol

Very cute! I love that you used blue to outline the top piece!

The top bits look fine to me. It's really cute! Is it a new Project Runway pattern? This season's PR patterns look very retro-influenced. There are several I want to try.

Yep it's a PR pattern. The side seam that is there isn't supposed to be but the white piece was sticking out way to far. Again I blame my not stay stitching it. I am going to make this one up again cause it went together pretty quick. I was thinking something in red, white and blue. ;)

Thanks for the compliments. :D

I am doing another dress from this pattern. I did everything according to the instructions and the white band is still kinda sticking out under the arms. :p I will finish the dress up and post a pic. Maybe you ladies can help me figure out how to tweek it?

All I could think to do was put in side darts. I need to some adjusting to the top of this one for sure. I notice that the white band is straight and has no curve to it so I think I will try tweeking that part first. :p I saw this floral fabric yesterday and had to buy it. The flower portions are sheer so I laid it over the top of the light green. I am still over all happy with the dress. :)

SheBear, so the band is a straight rectangle? I have a vintage pattern that is very similar and it has a shaped band. The piece looks like it could be a facing, KWIM? I think that is the problem. What I would do, in either scrap fabric or extra paper, pin the band to one of the completed dresses and cut the band and tap it together so that it hugs the body. Is that clear?
