i made the ceylon dress from colette patterns... it turned out pretty well and was really easy to make, the instructions were clear! i didn't make a muslin first, but i think next time i'll shorten the top part of the bodice so the waist is a little higher.

i made it in a white and dark blue striped cotton, it's neutral enough for fall (with stockings and a cardigan) but i think i'll get the most wear out of it in spring and summer!

Super cute! How accurate is the sizing?

You voted!

Here is my tapered skirt to go with the vintage Wolsey sweater. Just finished in time for my husbands Leliefontein parade and dance! I drafted this skirt with my PatternMaster Boutique software. I did a cut-on double inverted box pleat for walking room. The fabric is a nice combination of stretch and stiffness. I used a bit of ease and ended up with a wonderful fit. Thanks for voting, it looks great with the sweater!

Here is a close up of the pleats.

i thought it was quite accurate, she also warns you that the patterns are designed to be a tighter fit than other patterns... i was between sizes so i sied up a bit so the bust would definitely be right, and only had to take the waist in a little bit. so i'd say it is very correct.

what i thought would be an easy pattern turned out to be a bit of trouble. This pattern is from the same one i made the skirts i posted below. I even cut out and used the same size- but still they came out too small and rather than throw out the whole thing, i put side panels to expand them. While im not 100% happy with the way they look on me, they are wearable and make me nervous to try to make the full on pants pattern i really hope too.

Ah! Everything is so beautiful! It inspires me to try and learn to sew again. Now I just need patterns to go on sale. :)

Thank you Bopeep!

palespider - I love the software. It was pricey but worth every penny. The customer service and support is outstanding. There is a lot of learning and practice involved. To make full use of the program you have to familiarize yourself with all of the applications and there are a lot! A little bit of pattern making knowledge goes a very long way. PatternMaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph-Armstrong is fantastic.
It's too bad the pattern didn't fit. Good save with the panels.

Modern patterns go on sale about every other week through Joann's, Hancock's and Hobby Lobby. I am assuming one or more of those is available down that way?? Most of my "vintage" clothing is made from modern patterns. Good luck!!

I finally have something to post in this thread, yay!

I finished the Simplicity 3673 last week. First dress I have made in years. I lost some weight since my last duct tape double, and it fit that, but not me...I will have to go down a size. I knew I wouldn't use this fabric otherwise (stashed for almost a year) so I said to heck with a muslin. I have a girlfriend who it should fit so it went to her. I can't wait to see it on her. Hubby bought me a new dress form, you can see how it would hang on me!

Currently I am working on a muslin for the S&S Swing Dress. I did some laundry yesterday and found a sheet in the dryer that was irretrievably stained, so I used that for my muslin! Hubby was amused at my recycling.

hit that sale yesterday!!! I bought both of the forties simplicity paterns, and both of the sixties ones, also a pajama one that the shorts should work out well for tap shorts. I only buy patterns on sale. I recently lost 65 pounds because of being sick so I am having to replace all of my patterns and all of my vintage clothing. Very sad indeed.

Haha I am the opposite if I lost 40 to 60 pounds I would have more dresses to fit me than I have now. Patterns well I would could still sew a respectable wardrobe I think.

Oh, I forgot about this, and so far it is the only photo I have. Halloween Roaring 20's party for work, I am in the middle (with a wig, hehe)... Drafted it based on the One-Hour 1920s dress pattern. It ended up being too big but I got a lot of compliments on it.
