Here's another nice suit, again listed by Cinetex. Not exactly a belt-back, rather a pinch-back sports suit, again with several stains.

Hello, I was lucky enough to come across 3 suits and 2 pair of orphaned trousers in the thrift store the other day.
All are well made, very heavy fabric, mid-50's from Germany, they obviously all came from the same person who seems to of really looked after them well.
I had time to take pictures today, but of course it poured rain, so I attempted to take photos indoors.
Unfortunately this made for less than perfect pictures (quality, colors etc).
Since there are quite a few pictures, I will split it up into several posts
I do not know much about suits so I would really like to hear your comments.

Here is the first suit..
A really nice DB suit, I really like the fabric of this suit, I assume a heavy wool, yet very soft.
Colors are faded in this pic.

This seems a bit odd to me...I found this in the breast pocket and assume it is a pocket square..
s2h.jpg

I thought pocket squares were...square,,, not the shape of tiny womens underwear? [huh]

This picture is probably the closest to the real color of jacket
s2k.jpg

I think the trousers are just great
s2l.jpg

The trimmed hem is pretty cool
s2m.jpg

Front details, notice there are no belt loops
s2n.jpg

Back details
s2s.jpg

Front buttons, fabric close up

Inside of the trousers, no suspender buttons, it has an internal elastic belt. (there is probably a name for this)
s2p.jpg

Button fly details
s2q.jpg

Details of the internal belt fastener...way cool

Thanks
Kevin

Here is suit number 2
Very similar to the first suit, but perhaps a bit more formal.
The fabric is black heavy wool that is similar to felt. It has a satin like collar almost tux'ish
s1a.jpg

Again color is faded in the photo, should be black
s1c.jpg

s1b.jpg

Sleeve buttons
s1d.jpg

Same labels
s1e.jpg

s1f.jpg

Trousers, again poor photo color. Trimmed hem on straight cuffs, not turned up. No belt loops
s1h.jpg

Inside details with internal belt system, same as the first suit

Button fly

More to come...

This is the third complete suit, similar but different style from the first two
This looks like light brown or beige color...until you get the right light on it and it really comes alive with hues of blues and purples..its quite amazing really
This picture sort of shows the colors

Trousers
s3h.jpg

Again, no belt loops
s3j.jpg

This pair has buttons on the side
s3k.jpg

Inside details, no internal belt system. Most of the rubber around the waist has gone hard, crunchy, brittle.
Because of this, the nice lady at the thrift store gave me this suit for half price, only had to pay $10 for this one.

Inside buttons and crunchy rubber band
s3n.jpg

Button fly, front details
s3l.jpg

Same style of trimmed hem on the cuffs

Thx

I know this doesnt belong in this thread but I thought I would post it anyways.
Also found this pair of vintage Swiss ski pants in the same thrift store.
I suspect they belonged to the same fellow that owned the above suits, as it seems to be the same vintage and size.
Kinda cool

That's a very lucky find. In particular, the fabric on the single breasted suit is amazing. I'm sure some of the experts on continental suits (HBK, Quirel etc) will have comments to make regarding dates etc.

I think the ski trousers are fantastic. Will you be wearing them for skiing?

I recommend going back to the same shop over the next few weeks. Maybe the same man's overcoats, ties, hats etc will appear on their racks.

Well done.

I would guess that the top pair of trousers are to be part of formal daywear ala a Morning Suit/Stroller (excuse me if I am grouping similar things together) much like this on the left

index.php

Also I think it's interesting that the label is on the back of the jacket not around the interior breast pocket but I, being a Minnesotan who has never left the country, have not seen every jacket out there

Yes, that's true. But both outfits require striped trousers. The one on the left is more formal.
As you can see on the picture the trousers should not have cuffs. So they are perfect for fomal or semi formal daywear.

The suits on the earlier pictures seem 1950s to me. Good find!

(Don't ask me about the panties in the pocket. It's not a german tradition as far as I know )

Thanks for the reply. Yes they are from the 50's, I just noticed I forgot to post the date tags

Not sure if the "52" is a date or not..

Yes, that is an unusual pocket square :)

Thx

They sure would work for both

and I forgot to say Sled Dog, those are all fantastic trousers (and suits), great finds
