Shorter wool jacket

As the title implies I'm looking for a shorter wool jacket. I've got a Schott car coat and vintage pea coat but want something a little shorter, say in the 26-28" range. I've seen tons of mall store offerings but figured someone must know of some quality manufacturers who make these. Basically like a wool A2. For this I want to go new, so not looking for a vintage piece. Any ideas shoot them my way. Thanks.

Fanch, I've looked at Filson but want something a little shorter. I see Sterlingwear now makes a shorter jacket so that may be what I end up going with.

I had an Aero 30's Half-Belt, all wool, ordered through Insurrection (Sherwood Green) made last year. Great jacket and warm (Alpaca lining). Give them a call, I'm sure they can help you out!

Pauleway, that's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! I will definitely check that out. Mind if I ask what that cost you, and how warm it was (mind you I'm from Minnesota )

Use google to search the FL for short wool jackets. There are some in the repro classic workwear thread over at general attire. I would try to find a RL jacket on eBay. Some are fairly vintage.looking and don't even have to be the expensive RRL subbrand

A "wool A2"? That's the Aero Waterfront to a T....

Not sure if they're still doing it or not, as it's not on the website, but they had a whole rack of them last July. Worth asking about. Of course, any of the hslfbelt models would look great in wool too.

Ever considered a repro Ike jacket, or is that too military? I got one from What Price Glory last year, and for the $95 sale price, it's awesomely well-made. Though I had to exchange the first one I ordered, it turns out that they made it in a crazy size (52XL, with XL meaning wider, not longer) that fits my short-and-wide frame surprisingly well. And it's WARM.

My only problem with it is that I've been somewhat shy about wearing it out. It just seems a lot more like "costume" than my A-2s, MA-1s, peacoat, etc. I gotta get over that!

I love the jacket, but it wasn't cheap. I'm not sure we can post price on the forum, but if you call Carrie @-Insurrection she can quote you the cost. Mine has the alpaca lining and it is pretty warm. I live south of Buffalo NY and it's always cold and snowy here, but I'm not sure we can compete with Minnesota for that. (You can have that prize as far as I'm concerned anyway;) I don't think you'll be disapointed, but it was a little pricey!
