oooh...i've been wanting to share this other, more serious (and prettier) thing i do, which is iconography. i'm still very much the novice, but at least these are finished things that i can share. and the practice is fairly "vintage." lol

this is the first icon i did of St. Michael the Archangel...the style is said to be Russian in the Byzantine tradition...if that means anything to anyone. hehe

and this is the second, St. Gabriel the Archangel (the photo of this one shows the vibrant colors...unlike the one above...because i took the pictures with different cameras)

currently i'm working on two more, the Theotokos (Mother of God) and Christ.

Hope your 500C is fixed soon, and we get to see some of the images from it.

It's ready. I got the call yesterday and will pick it up either on my way to work today or sometime Saturday. Then I can get to doing some shooting again. :)

Anyone in the Los Angeles area up for a vintage photo safari? :)

When I'm a bit bored I like to fool around with Photoshop. Lately I've been inserting my face in old paintings. They make for great cards to send friends and relatives. They're not perfect, but I don't spend a lot of time on them.

This is me inserted into a work by 17th century German artist Jochrin von Sandrart....

Now that that one's done. I'm starting my next one. I got it all sketched out yesterday. The tree will be in place, but I didn't want the outline to show through for that part.

All I have time for these days are doodles really.

The first drawing is something I copied from a photo of (late 18th century? Early 19th) fishermen in Alaska. I liked his sweater and his attitude. He's dapper, no?

This one is of a WWII-era Royal Marine Commando I doodled in class today. At least his trousers are accurate...

And, this last one is a recurring favorite of mine. There's just something about a pea-coat that lends itself to artistic interpretation.
