And I don't own this...leather with lace just not my cup of tea

I personally don't mind the laces. It's purpose driven for sure. It's a bike jacket without a belt so it's needs to be tight at the waist and that's precisely what those laces are for. I'd rock that sucka loud and proud.

I do not loike the lace but the jacket is kick ass
replace the lace sides with zipper

I'm never sure why anyone thinks lacing is a good idea...

Mn. I can see the practical purpose behind it. Maybe it's even easier to vary according to what you're going to wear than some other options like side-buckles. Less so than a belt, but then perhaps the idea is to do away with the belt to avoid the buckle scratching on the tank if you're adopting a crouched-riding position? (That's why Lewis put a leather-covered buckle on their Bronx, and opted for side buckles on most of their other jackets. Schott or Buco didn't need to worry about this back in the day, of course, as in that period American bikes typically were designed with a much more upright sitting position....) When it comes down to it, though, it's never attracted me either. I'd take the buckles every time.

Still quite fancy the idea of a twin-track jacket, though, a feature Lewis first introduced to the world in, if memory serves, 1966, with the twin-track Bronx. A lot of modern bike jackets have follwed suit.
