So the application of steam would work on the Milan? I have used steam on some of my felts but was hesitant to try it on a straw. But then I am only looking for a small increase in size, I just want a more comfortable feeling.

An example/question: So if you're wanting to stretch from a 7-1/4 to 7-3/8 would you buy the 7-1/4 and use the adjustments to stretch, or buy the 7-3/8?

My hat size is 7-3/4, I bought the stretcher to expand a hat that was 7-5/8 and needed a boost. As shown at MWS, the 7-1/4 stretcher is for hats from size 7-1/4 to 8. As I recall, the largest stretcher was too big to fit in the hat. This is the 7-5/8 Christy's with the 7-1/4 stretcher loosely inside, before cranking it open - seems like you need to buy the smallest or second smallest stretcher:
