If you are of a sensitive or easily offended nature then please do not follow this link.

I showed it to my wife, she did not agree with the comments of the USN as having no training value. She said it was some impressive precision flying. My 15 year old Daughter wants to shake the pilots hand for having a sense of humour.

Does anyone else feel reminded of the opening scene cut away gags in the second Ausin Powers film ?

What ever your thoughts on the propiety of the stunt, the outraged pearl clutching is a bit ridiculous. Let the Navy handle it as they will and wait for the next thing to be offended about.

We've come so far in what is acceptable - what is "out there" in our culture every day - that this is just another whatever. Personally, doesn't bother me in the least, but if we were a culture that was modest (like the one that I caught the remnants of in the late '60s / '70s), then I could understand some being upset, but that ship has sailed.

She's out of the apartment right now, but my girlfriend, I would bet, would say, it's only a big deal for kids or anyone if someone makes it a big deal - otherwise, it's just a ... half the population has one. Her point is that there are offensive things, but this isn't one of them unless we decide to call it offensive.

If it violates Navy protocol, then as noted in an above post, let the Navy discipline its pilot accordingly. As to society, we do need guardrails and limits on public behavior, but this is way inside the very wide circle - for better or worse - that we've drawn for ourselves today. We have a lot of wood to chop to get back to a point where this is out of bounds.

I always kind of thought that was the whole point of public military exhibitions. It's been going on ever since Og and Zog compared the size of their clubs, but now they're being honest about it.

As a parent of young children, I'm not offended. If my 4 and 2 year old saw it, they would think it's silly (4 year old girl) and hilarious (2 year old boy). If they could figure out what it is. Actually they'd probably know because I couldn't stop laughing and spilled the beans.

But then my two year old knows that boys have penises (not whatever cutesy names most parents give them) and girls do not. So I might not be a fair judge of what's appropriate for kids. Although I get a kick out of seeing the convoluted names the pediatrician uses for their "private area" and the weird looks on my kids faces. Last time my daughter corrected the doctor.
