Second Guessing B-3 Size and Fit

Bought this Cockpit B-3 second hand off eBay in size 42 (my exact chest measurement). It seemed okay when I first got it, but the more I wear it the more I begin to think maybe I should have downsized to a 40. The arm length is fine, but the arms and the chest look too roomy with just a long sleeve shirt underneath. I go back and forth to myself about it…the jacket itself is really great and it’s my first sheepskin jacket.

What do you all think? Am I mistaken to think it should be more snug or is this considered a good B-3 fit?

Looks like a B3 fit. You might want to fasten the cinches at the waist tho.

In the What Jacket Are You Wearing Today thread I posted my B3ish yesterday and basically fits like yours. Perhaps you could get away with a downsize, but then you would surely lose the option of layering and perhaps it becomes too short on the waist and/or slee

Thanks, I fastened it one notch at the waist cinches and it looks better around the waist. Good point about the sleeves and waist length.

The thing I was least expecting was how large diameter the sleeves were, but if it’s the proper fit of a classic B-3 I can be happy with that.

That looks like a typical B3 fit to me. They are designed to be large and oversized. Look at the pics from WWII and you‘ll see. By the way, stories are that during WWII, you got the jacket you got and that’s that!!!
