I’m hankering for a Stetson Open Road Twenty Five, 7 1/8 or 7 1/4, reasonably priced and in good condition. I know, I’m a dreamer. However ...

If you’ve got one that fits that description and you’re willing to part with it - or if you know where one is - let me know.

Thanks!

They are out there. The 25s made fairly regular appearances on eBay 6 months or a year ago. While they are less common right now they still come up. The late 50s, early 60s models are more common. If you don’t find one here and I see one I’ll send it over to you. A 7 1/8 will be easier to find.

Just for reference, early 3X Open Road models show up more often and are pretty nice :)

Good luck,
Daniel

Thanks, Daniel! I greatly appreciate your response to my call for help.

I’m addicted to Open Roads and have four 6X in different colors as well as a 6X straw. I don’t know why, but the heritage and relative rarity of the Twenty Five has me hungering for one.

Thanks again for your reply and promise to keep your eyes peeled for me.

Thanks for the intro, Frunobulax. 2mar10, please take a look at the photos and description in the previous thread and let me know if you might be interested. It's tagged a 7-1/4, but is definitely on the roomy side.
Thanks for reaching out to me. And thanks for the pictures. It’s a nice hat. But if the hat is marked 7 1/4 and runs a little big, it will probably be a tad too big for me. The moth holes are a bit problematic, but not a total deal breaker.

It’s a nice hat, so I’m interested in a price.

Thanks again!

Hi 2mar10, always hard to put a price on these things. The moth nibbles are small, but they certainly render the hat imperfect. How's $150 shipped (CONUS) sound? Happy to discuss-

You are so kind, and if not for the moth bites and the 7 1/4 plus size I would jump at it. If you still have it after I look around for a while, I would love to circle back to you and see what we might work out.

Thank you kindly for spending time showing me the hat. You are obviously one of the good guys.

Saw one in a Goodwill in KC about 3-4 weeks ago. No moth bites smelled vaguely of cedar), 7 1/8, stamped for a store in Amarillo TX IIRC, no ribbon. Had a round aftermarket pasteboard box that was split on the side. Price was ~60 USD.
Oh, man! I’ve got a ribbon that would work just fine on that. No chance it’s still there, though. But just in case it is the next time you stop by, I’d love to take a chance on it.

Thanks, Jim!

That would be terrific! You are so kind. Thanks a million, Hurricane Jack!
2mar10, I went to the Goodwill @ 48th & N. Oak Tfwy, turns out there are 10 locations in the Kansas City metro. The hat was not there but the store manager told me all Stetson hats are sold thru ShopGoodwill.com auctions. He said all ShopGoodwill auctions for area stores are handled thru their recycling center located at 1800 N. Corrington Ave (816-746-7660). Maybe JJ can identify which location he saw it at but most likely it was the recycling center. Don't know if you could call & buy if off the floor or before auction or not.

So if JJ doesn't reply my advice would be to call the number above & ask if it is on the sales floor or for sale other than auction.
