I have to put in a plug for Joshua Rifkin's Scott Joplin recordings of the early 70s. I have loved these interpretations since they were new, when treating the rags as serious music (vs. cute old-time honkytonk stuff played at fingerbreaking speed) was a revelation. The original three LPs are now mostly collected on a single CD. Highly recommended!
