Schott Perfecto 618 fit HELP

Hello, I recently bought this Schott Perfecto 618 in size 44 and I think it is a bit too big, especially on the shoulders.

I'm thinking about how much I should size down. I believe size 42 would be my best bet as I'd like to wear a sweater underneath too. I'm 5'10 and 181 lbs with a 39/40" chest.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Any opinions on this fit?

P.S.: Normally I would wear this jacket with some jeans

I am the same height/chest and about 170 lbs and would have gone for a size 42 to layer. A 42 will fit you well. A size 40 in this would give me t-shirt only fit.

Honestly, I don't think it looks all that large. But I also think you could size down in this style for aesthetic appeal. Here's me wearing a CHP that's definitely too big, for the sake of comparison.

I like how it looks on you, especially if you want to wear a sweater.

A 42 would look better, but then I’m not sure about layering (with comfort). YMMV.

It‘s not that far off and I think it’s only going to look better as you break it in. Maybe keep the 44 as your cold weather jacket that you can fit some layers under, and then get a 42 (in horsehide perhaps) for t-shirt season. Multiple Perfectos is legal in most states.

With a 39/40 chest, 42 would be a good fit with enough room for a sweater. 40 would be a nice size too, but with little room left for layering.
