San Antonio Police Homicide Unit Now Wearing Fedoras

Here is an article and video I thought everybody might find interesting. The San Antonio Police Department Homicide Unit is now wearing fedoras. From now on it is going to be a tradition and once a new detective solves their first case they will receive a fedora.

Charlie, I found out about this when one of them stopped me at the courthouse to ask about the hat I was wearing. I was wearing one of Art's hats. Quite a noticeable difference between his Dobbs and one of Art's lightweights!

The ATL Hat Squad are given a hat with their first solved homicide.
Most then go buy themselves one to wear & keep the initial one as a memento.
They do get straw ones for the warmer months too.

This doesn't have anything to do with fedoras but the Texas Ranger dress code requires them to wear a light colored western hat. Black hats are not allowed!

Uniforms are always a good thing. Not only does it help with unity and a sense of belonging. But it also tells others you are a professional and ready for business. A bunch of guys hanging around in suits looking at a crime scene, “so what?” A bunch of guys at a crime scene and one is in a hat “Thank goodness the detective is on the job” Tells the people you have the right man on the job. My opinion.

Yep!

The first time I watched "Walker: Texas Ranger" I only watched a few seconds. When Chuck Norris came out wearing a black hat I changed channels. I decided if they can't get that little detail correct then the rest of the show can't be worth watching.
