I am looking forward to an update as well.
I've never been asked that either, but I have seen the sign with forbidden items, and honestly I thought they mean the kind you drink, not the little bit that can be found in cosmetics. Maybe she was just mistaken? Weird. Sorry, that must've been a bit akward.Update:
When I sent out the beauty box the lady working at the post office asked me if I had anything fragile, liquid, or personal items [in the box]. I said "yes". The lady postal worker then asked me "do any of the items contain alcohol"? I said "its only cosmetics". So, the lady asks do I know if any of the items contain alcohol? I said "I don't think so". The lady postal worker then went on to explain "they [the post office ] were not allowed to send out any items that contain alcohol". I did not say anything. I just nodded my head a little so the lady postal worker would know I was paying attention.
However, this is what I was thinking while the lady postal worker was explaining why they [the post office] was not allowed to send out items that contain alcohol. That can't be true. I sent out cosmetic items before and was never asked do they contain alcohol. Must be some new rule that I do not know about.
In the end everything worked out and the beauty box is on its way to the next person.

p.s. glad you like the cream. I did too except the scent was so not for me. =)
Me too. Have received plenty of things like that via USPS.I always just reply no. I mean, technically nail polish and hairspray is flammable, but I think they are talking about things like gasoline. Or at least I have assumed that.

I agree, let us hope it does not come to this. It's a good thing the box isn't going international. I sent a parcel to England last week & discovered a new, oh so sensible post office policy - in addition to the quadruplicate customs form, now all information is also entered into the computer, destination address and detailed listing of parcel contents and value of each item. That's bound to improve efficiency and customer relations....
The box came in on Saturday! I think this round will be a bust for me based on my first glance through. I will make a few choices and toss in what I can in the next couple of days. I have to run to the post office today and get a new box; I think the other one has about had it, especially since it has a gigantic cut in the side like someone took a knife to it. :/
