Bartenders, I hope this thread is allowed. I'm not encouraging gambling, I just want to discuss it with those who partake in it.

Since I turned 18 last week I've twice visited a casino and played at roulette. For years I'd been fascinated by the maths behing the game, so it was one of the first things I did. I also like it because it's a very "golden era" activity, since it's almost exactly the same now as it was then.

My mol fears I'm becoming a gambling addict, but I can justify playing since I won on both occaisions. The first time I came with £20 and left with £25, the second time I was a bit more ambitious and came with £45 and left with £65. My strategy is simply: I bet exclusively on black in multipes of £5 (since the minimum bet where I go). I sometimes bet negatively - doubling when I lose in order to regain what I lost and make my original profit when/if I win.

Does anyone else ever play roulette and have any interesting stories/strategies to share?

I have always been interested in the game but I know NOTHING about it.

I don't know why i am so fascinated with the game but it always catches my eye.

Maybe now I will go do same research and learn about the game :)

Roulette is a house game.

Read this again and again, avedwards, and remember it. Listen to that mol at your side. It may not be an addiction that you have, but it is surely a slippery slope.

Scotrace, I was telling myself that all of last Thursday evening. I played again and I learned my lesson, having lost £30. I felt like a complete moron, being poor enough as it is. I made myself and my mol the solemn promise never to play again. Roulette should not be used as a way of making money as I tried to do.

The only way of legitimately winning is to own the casino.

However, there is a certain glamour to it nevertheless. It's a fun game to just watch, especially as I take an interest in psychology.
