One Too Many
When I was a kid, there used to be a TV show called Roller Game, and teams of skaters would beat eachother up on a banked track..it proved very popular over here: I went and saw The LA T-Birds with Ralphie Valladares and Shirley Hardman et al, at our local indoor stadium kinda thing when they made one of their tours downunder. It seemed to be big deal in the States from our distant viewpoint. Why did it die? What happened to it, did that WWF rubbish kill it off? What are the cultural reasons for its fall from grace, Wiki doesn't explain.

Oh yes, it's definitely coming back. I was just talking to a friend last night who's in the process of joining a roller-derby team, and her major concern at the moment is coming up with an intimidating name. From what she tells me, the whole thing is being done very much along pro-wrassling lines, with lots of flash and glitz and show-biz.

I'd consider joining too, but I lost my skate key when I was seven, and it still hasn't turned up...

Wow, I remember that, too! For some reason, the name "Tuffie Brasue" rings a bell! Whenever my sisters and I want to describe a female is who really a hard woman, we'll say that she's a reall "Tuffie Brasue!

There are also some men roller derby teams that are starting up on the west coast. It will never get as big as women but it is still just as entertaining to watch. It goes at a faster pace.
