I am in Washington DC for a conference and some business meetings this weekend and I ran into actor Richard Dreyfuss. He was sporting a fedora and I took a few minutes to ask him about it…
Turns out it was a pretty cheap all wool fedora with a homburg brim and a short crown that Dreyfuss had a slight pinch in… even as it appears bowler-like, it is more like a homburg.
It seemed to be a no name hat, but the story that went with the hat was more interesting than the hat.
Dreyfuss told me that when he was in New York recently he had a cab driver that was clearly a bit drunk. The two got to talking and the subject of the cabbie's knocked about old hat he was wearing and the cabbie insisted that Dreyfuss keep it as a momento of their meeting.
So, that's where he got it.
