Review : OurLegacy’s Mini Jacket

Hey everyone! First time posting here on The Fedora Lounge. As a huge fan of leather jackets and heritage style, I’m really glad to finally join the community and share the passion with you all.

When I first started looking at this jacket, I actually had a slight hesitation: "Am I just gonna spend the rest of my life wearing rep/heritage jackets and completely pass on modern brands?"

For guys like us into Amekaji or heritage workwear, the biggest hesitation with contemporary brands is almost always the leather quality. You instantly start wondering: "Is the leather actually worth this price?" or "Will this age nicely like a good hide should?" As long as the build is solid, that’s usually what matters most to us.

What really defines this jacket is how minimal it is—it almost feels like "Mini" literally stands for "Minimal." It strips away all the usual busy heritage details and lets the hide do all the talking.

The moment that convinced me to pull the trigger was seeing a few pictures online. The leather texture looked suspiciously close to Lewis Leathers' veg-tanned cowhide. The cut was clean enough for everyday wear, and the leather just had that right look even through a screen. I figured, "Well, even if it's a gamble, it's the exact type of leather I love anyway. Let's do it."

Turns out it was a total home run. To my surprise, it actually turned out to be the exact same veg-cow hide as Lewis Leathers, and I've been loving it ever since.

If I had to break down its main selling points, it comes down to three things: great leather, solid hardware, and a nice modern fit. While the exterior stays super minimal, the corduroy lining inside the collar and pockets is a really nice subtle touch.

By the way, instead of using the term "Teacore," Our Legacy calls this a "Top-dyed" finish. Unlike typical teacore that reveals a brown undertone over time, both this and Lewis Leathers' Veg-Cow lean closer to a Natural Core underneath.

Fit-wise, it's boxy yet cropped—very typical for a contemporary piece like this. It uses a 2-way Lampo zipper which feels great to operate and makes driving or sitting down super comfortable.

Since I rotate this with my other outerwear and don't wear it super tight, the patina hasn't been crazy dramatic yet—you can just barely see the natural core starting to peak through around the cuffs. But whenever I want a relaxed, effortless fit, or just a clean jacket where the leather stands out on its own, this is pretty much my go-to.

It might look plain to some right now, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how time and wear will break in this leather down the road.

I really struggle to read AI copy like this but it is interesting to see this jacket pop up in another thread, after so many other posts recently.

Would love to see a couple of fit pics as the cuffs on this just look insanely wide to me on the comparison pic.
Its an obvious shill/bot posting on behalf of the company. IMO if a company's marketing staff does this the brand should be banned from TFL. This kind of thing makes me write the company off by definition, user has been blocked.

Here’s a pic of a Korean actor wearing it, hope this helps! Since I share stuff from My Korean online communities, I’ll work on making the AI translations way cleaner and easier to read going forward.

Whoa, hold on! I'm definitely not a bot or a marketing staff for any brand—just a fellow leather jacket enthusiast from Korea who wanted to share some cool references. Sorry if my AI translation sounded a bit unnatural or like a promo script! Just here to talk about jackets like everyone else.

Jacket is being excessively discussed in other thread, next day you sign up, post a AI-review of the jacket that is full of praise and instead of fit pictures you post a picture of some actor... nah bro, I ain't buying it.

Here’s my fit pic, and I actually don't recommend this to heritage leather fans either. I'm personally into brands like Lost Worlds, Himel, and Aero Leather. Looks like I made a bad choice for my first post—I didn't realize this jacket had so much viral hype.

I mean this was how it felt to me too reading that, but the guy seems genuine from this.

I think its just using AI as a translator, which I do understand if English is not your main language, but unfortunately here its translated whatever was written in such a way that it sounds like the least convincing shill ever. I guess AI has some learning to do!

Haha thank you! Yeah, big mistake on my part trusting the AI too much to sound 'professional'—turned out sounding like the worst shill post ever instead. Definitely learned my lesson!

Thanks. Yes, it has a look and it seems to fit you well but its maybe not a jacket that sits well here along side the classic styles we see here. The cuffs look fine, more like suit jacket size than anything too over the top.

Kind of feels to me as if its a leather jacket you would see in a manga with its exaggerated proportions.

Appreciate it! And I see what you mean—it definitely leans more into modern/contemporary proportions rather than classic heritage patterns. 'Manga style' actually makes a lot of sense haha! It's definitely a fun, different piece to rotate with my traditional jackets.

In that case, welcome to TFL! And thank you for the review, I had actually asked for one in the other thread.. good to see the leather is what it is, I am positively surprised there. The fit however.. not for me.

I agree that the timing is odd, but guys lets be serious - Our Legacy is a pretty famous brand in the high fashion space, and they are of a decent scale. They aren't posting on a forum like the fedora lounge to get a few additional buyers.

They're a $50m revenue company, I doubt they care about making a few k extra here
