I found this 3x Beaver Stetson at a market for 5 bucks with no ribbon and a foul pork-pie block so beloved of bumpkins, so I reblocked it to the best of my ability and got a free 2nd hand ribbon from a hatter.
looks OK I reckon

Good job. I did the same thing with a western blocked Stetson Fifteen i got - also for $5.

Fedora (Steve) started a thread on March 3 showing what he did with an old Open Road that came to him looking fit for the garbage can. (The "before" shot isn't there anymore, but I recall that it showed that hat to be severely tapered and really, really funky and worn-out looking.) It inspired me to hold on to some "hopeless" old hats of mine, and acquire some more, in anticipation of eventually acquiring blocks and flanges.

THanks guys, have to ask tho, what are flanges in the hat sense, I've seen some great old timber blocks in hatters and and antique shops but I did this one by hand, just like we did at school in the old days, warm water and fingers.
