Hello Loungers,

I have a 1939 Tuxedo (dated tag) in excellent condition I need tailored and need your help. I'm looking for a reputable tailor to take a few things in a smidge and need it in the next 3-ish weeks. I appreciate any insight or help you may be able to offer.

I'm located near Ft. Collins.

Thank you in advance.

I will try a search and see what I come up with. I didn't know if there was someone who knew vintage and fits that you all might know of and suggest versus some "gal or guy on 10th St." approach :)

Thank you for the timely response!

I can't be of any help, but can you post pics of the tuxedo, just so I can be mesmerized? :D

I recently went to my first tailor, and she was very much against the vintage style. Hopefully, you find someone who is open to your style of tuxedo and will actually bother to alter it! Good luck.

Was that tailor of your's anything like George Dyer? This is his website, he trades under the name of Threadneedleman. Have a look at what a real tailor is like. While you are there check his YouTube video for the 60's London 'Mod' suit. It's very much of the slim fit that you like. George will make you a suit without questioning your preferences, his only questions are professional, like with or without vents, or button numbers, single or double breasted. All real tailors are like that.

Mondo,

It is currently at the tailor but I will post some for you when it is finished next week. When I went in to be fitted, the lady couldn't believe that it was a 1939 Tuxedo. Of course I showed her the dated tag. She kept saying, "This is in such beautiful condition!" "Amazing, these are usually shredded and trashed! The padding and interior are near perfect!"

Pretty cool. :)

Funny story. Nice to know you found a tailor whose tolerant of your ancient tuxedo. I'm surprised she hasn't dealt with several pieces of formal wear that old before. Most surviving suits from then are formal garb anyway. Can't wait to see the tux.
