Rejuvinating a secondhand Schott 618 Perfecto

Hey y'all,

Just got this 618 secondhand and wondering if anyone has any insight into what these marks are/if they'll come out with some regular ol' lexol or saddle soap? Damp cloth didn't do the trick, just hoping they're not permanent. It may be mold so I will give it a try with some vinegar/water combo.

Also if anyone has any suggestions about the best way to treat it otherwise (proabbyl fine to just clean and leave as is but if some conditioner would do it good I'm happy to do so).

It also has a rather distinctive closet smell. Not sure if it's mildew, but it's like those old barbour jackets that are in a closet for years. I'm gonna hope sunshine and fresh air and wear help get rid of most of it but if anyone has any suggestions on tackling that, I'm alll ears.

The back collar button is missing and I'm debating if it's worth getting reparied by Schott but if they have a cleaning/conditioning service maybe that would make it worth the while. I'd love a collar down the road but nothing urgent.

Lastly, I take it this jacket is from 2007 based on the tag? Surprised as how short it is (which I think I prefer) compared to current models since my understanding was 2000s era models were longer but who knows with Schott.

Thanks!

If the jacket fits you perfectly, that's 95% luck. If you have time, do not rush to return the jacket. Many people here have experience with cleaning jackets from mold. Maybe someone can share their experience.

What was the price of the jacket?

Indeed a good fit can be rare! Especially with perfectos where you can’t be certain of the cut. I’ve been looking at some old threads and have used some diluted vinegar and will give it significant sunshine tomorrow but based on the work so far it may seem a full wash is the only hope.

All in it was $390.
