I've got two western conversions coming soon that are very close to this hat, so it won't be getting much wear. It's in great shape, no stains or obvious wear, took the liner out the day I got it, about one month ago, so the liner is brand new. Never been outside yet. I'm a long 7 3/4, almost a 7 7/8, and this is comfortable on me, but these tend to "tighten up a bit" with wear, so a 7 1/2 would also work. Ships with unused sizing strips. Asking $75 via PayPal, shipping included. Thanks, Frank.

Akubra Silverbelly is more of a beige or light tan than Stetson or Resistol. Imperial quality felt, very soft and easy to shape.

I just received a great Carbon Fed IV, making my Squatter in Moonstone a bit obsolete. Instead of just hanging it up, I'd take $70 PayPal, shipping included (US only). If anybody's interested, I'll post pix. Brand new condition, has grommets on either side, one hidden by ribbon, one barely shows. Good for warm weather or big sweaty noggins. Frank

Come on cranially endowed campers!

They're not going to get any lower, and they will both come with sizing strips and original packaging. Thanks, Frank

Squatter Pix - Moonstone, size 63

This hat is super comfortable and flawless. The grommets are not obvious, and it is a nice light breathable hat. I like the self-colored band and binding a lot, but it's been replaced by my Fed IV in Carbon. Really easy to bash, not stiff at all. Thanks for looking, Frank.

Excuse the shoddy pix, but Moonstone is hard to capture!

Haven't posted enough to merit PM authorization so I must ask here...

These are both 7 3/4? I am a 7 5/8 (long oval-ish I believe). Am I in the ballpark for a decent fit?

These are both unlined and lightweight? Could I get the approximate crown heights and brim widths? Would you say the brims are floppy or could withstand a moderate breeze?

Also, could you help me out with the colors of the hats? From the photos, the first looks like sand or tan and the second a pearl gray. How would you describe them seeing them "in person"?

Thanks for your time,

J

Being the same size, 7 5/8 LO, you could probably do the Campdraft at 62. I have a Dallas, just like a Snowy River, in 62 that fits me. Campdrafts seem to have a good bit of draw in them as they age. You'll probably need some spacers behind the sweat to start with & with a good soaking or 2 & letting it dry quickly, it will come to you considerably. HTH

I have 2 Squatters, the FeatherLight variety, that are 61 & fit me just right. I'd think that 63 would swallow our noggins. JMHO

Nuke's questions

J - gtd is right on the money with the 63 Squatter, it would take some shrinking. Doable, but a bit of work. The Campdraft, however, is starting to snug up a bit, and would be pretty close to your size with a good steaming or some heat. I will be enclosing the sizing strips with each hat, so that's going to make it easier to size down. The Squatter could accomodate up to a 7 7/8 relatively easily. It is a Moonstone, which is a pearly grey color. The Campdraft is Akubra's version of Silverbelly, which is a more tan or beige than grey. The brims on both are soft enough to style your way, but not "floppy." Neither is as stiff as my cowboy hat brims. I'll email you with more at the address you provided. Thanks, Frank

Make an Offer!

Other hats coming soon. Panic setting in. Package deal? $125 for both shipped. Trades considered, make me an offer. If the Campdraft is too tall and wide-brimmed, I have a Stetson conversion similar (see Conversion Corral for pix) that I could let go for the same price, and I'll keep the Campdraft. The conversion is a bit smaller brimmed, and lower crowned. Thanks, Frank

Hi frussell, I would like to take you up on this deal. This is my first post so I have no pm privileges. Can we do this? I have the money and a paypal account.
Thanks Howard
