Red Wing chelsea boots

Does anyone own a pair? Wondering how they fit. (I am told quite loosely.)

Have a look.

They're a desirable boot, I find, although seemingly rare.

I own a pair and they don't look dressy at all. Although they might share the same gene pool with some Trickers or Alden Chelseas they are a pure-bred Red Wing boot. They look rugged and age well. The toe section is very roomy but the overall fit is not too loose or wobbly as on those Red Wing Pecos. A comfortable boot that wears well with all sorts of denim. It's also fine with certain types of chinos as the sleek design doesn't "overpower" thinner and lighter types of trousers.
I have them in brown but I had wished for a more refined Horween leather like the Beckmans have...but the Briar oil slick is ok and a good choice for rugged shoes.
It does have a distinct pull-up which leads to a nice patina in a relatively short period of time. If you wipe them down with a hot/wet flanel and apply some conditioner afterwards they look new again.

Anyway, I can recommend them!

Thanks for this, Jan (and good to hear from you). Any chance of seeing them foot-mounted?

You make me even more inclined to go for them. Are they at all hot to wear? They struck me as more of a spring-summer Red Wing than the Iron Rangers (which I am enjoying wearing).

They partly appeal because they remind me of a superior version of some footwear of my youth: Blundstones.

Can't...camera is dead. But they sure look good, especially if you are after something along the lines of Blundstones. I have to say though that the RW version looks much more classy (and classic) due to the stacked and stitched leather/rubber sole. Blunstones always look a bit like Wellies, especially when new. They serve their purpose well but I wouldn't buy them again. The Chelsea plays in a whole different league...

On the subject of Red Wing boots, can anyone tell me where I can get a pair of 8131s resoled (ideally somewhere in London)? They are less than two years old but the tread has worn away to next to nothing.

Cheers, I know both of those shops, in fact I bought the boots in question from American Classics/classicredwingshoes. Will give them a try.

RM Williams makes boots with composite soles as well. Red Wing Chelseas and RM Williams are not at all like each other though.
