Here is a rare, piece of Japanese heritage workwear history: an authentic pair of late-1990s Warehouse & Co. jeans from their legendary, short-lived "Blue-Gray" line, in a hard to find size.
Warehouse did an incredible job for these replica jeans using materials that were consistent with 1920's workwear (such as non selvedge denim with triple bicolor flat felled seams as well as contrasting cream linen facing on sides of a Hookless zipper) but instead of replicating a single year, Warehouse intentionally configured this pair a transitional piece, incorporating belt loops, an adjustable buckle cinch-back, Unionalls suspender buttons and raw copper structural rivets on the front and rear spade pockets.
Warehouse's signature arcuates featuring the unique, intersecting geometric "X" stitching exclusive to the Blue-Gray line (instead of standard Levi's replicas,) are seen on back pockets. The denim has aged to a desaturated blue - grey patina, with nice vertical slub fading, "tate-ochi," due to weaving on a low-tension vintage shuttle loom. The hem with original golden-yellow chain-stitching from utilizing a vintage Union Special machine has nice puckering. The small center riveted (a nod to early workwear design) Blue Grey stylized cursive patch is a cool touch.
Tag size listed is 34 but please check pictures carefully as they have shrunk. I have had these jeans for five years, with about twenty - five wears and have only washed (never hot dried) four times (most recent was August 8th 2026 and prior to purchase I do not know how many washes, which probably contributed to initial shrinkage.)
This is the only snap / zipper combination jeans I have ever owned. The rise feels high but when snapped and zippered, the fit is snug but with consistent wear the waist should open up another 0.5 - 0.75 inches.
This experimental collection was my most unique find in the denim second hand market. They belong with a true denim head.
