Today I rec'd the Raf Battledress as seen on the S.H. website.
Owing to the low cost of this product and many mixed reviews from a couple of years ago , I was not expecting much.
However , I am ever surprised !
The Battledress is quite good > I will review in point form
Purchased off Ebay
Communication with the seller was very good with quick reply to questions
Shipping speed>Purchased on Oct 18 - arrived Oct 25
Colour > a pretty good repro of the Blue-grey colour
Material> not as thick as an original but not thin either -very close. Once you have a shirt and tie or sweater underneath it will look even better.
Quality > side by side with an original, the craftsmanship sewing etc is excellent. All buttons ,button tabs, pockets etc are reinforced with heavy cloth strips as seen on their website
Fit > I am 5'11" 172 lbs (slim) The jacket is a Large and fits perfect off the rack . Pants I chose in my actual waist size (34) and again a perfect fit.
Pockets are of the correct RAF style with the 3 point flap
Buttons look period correct
Jacket also came with a set of RAF wings sewn in position but these I will replace with RCAF wings
Overall I am very very happy with the Spearhead Battledress.
For re-enactors it will stand up well against fragile originals
I will post some pics this weekend
Hope this review helps and if anyone has any questions, please post and I will try to answer
