Richard Warren said:how does the barmaid know which drunken jerks to be nice to?
Creeping Past said:A good barmaid is never nice to drunks.

What's your definition of nice? This will vary from one gent to another.....Richard Warren said:My definition of a good barmaid is one who is nice to me when I have had too many.

Reminds me of the time I recommended my regular masseuse to a friend after a hard day on the slopes. When I asked how he liked her he said,"She was OK, I guess." Upon further inquiry he revealed that he was disappointed not to have received a 'happy ending'. :eusa_doh: She's with the US Ski team.

Richard Warren said:I've never thought that any amount of tipping would induce a barmaid (or masseuse) to be that nice.

I was accidentally very rude in Japanese restaurant (staffed by Japanese people) on Wednesday in regards to tipping. The service and food had been exceptional, so I gave £25 rather than the £19.48 the meal had cost. The waitress promptly came back with exact change for the £5.52 I had overpaid which I found strange, so I decided to leave £2 on the table when I left.
Just after I had walked to the end of the street I suddenly remembered that it's considered rude to tip in Japan :eusa_doh:
