Question On Aero Hwyman Fit

Hi, very interested in the Aero Highwayman, however, I'm a little concerned about getting the fit right. I'm 6'2" but a bit high-waisted, and so the waist of my trousers is a little higher. I'm inclined to go with a long vs a regular, however I'm then thinking a long might be, well, too long. I've noticed that the Highwayman comes down to the waist in the pictres I've seen. What are your thoughts on this? Also, my chest measures 42" but I'd be wearing a sweater underneath which could add some bulk so should I go up a size and order a size 44? Thanks.

I got a Highwayman back in March for motorcycle riding. I am 6' 180 lbs. with long arms and a long trunk. Almost always go with tall sizes. A 42 suit size fits me perfectly, along with 34 trousers. All of my jackets--suit, sport coats, work coats, peacoats, everything fits great at a 42. Shirt size is 16 x 34.

I ordered a 42 Highwayman with size 44 sleeves and body length, which gave an extra inch in the sleeves and body. It is a very trim fit, with only a shirt underneath. With a vest or sweater, especially a sweater as the jacket arms are so closely fitted, it was a too tight. Also, after the sleeves broke in and developed wrinkles, the sleeves shortened by almost an inch. I have been able to stretch the chest out enough so that I can wear a vest underneath the jacket. Wearing a sweater is still a little tight in the arms. It has stretched some in the arms, however.

If I had it to do over again, I would order a size 44 with an extra inch or two in the sleeves--probably the same length in the sleeves as a size 46 jacket. With a vest or sweater it would still be a little tight, but it would stretch out. And it would be a better fit in the chest with just a shirt underneath. Hope this helps.

Goodguy: Have you been speaking with Mark Moye from Aero Leather USA?

He can help you get pretty much anything you're looking for, within reason. I agree with Peacoat that the sleeves on a Highwayman will be tight when wearing anything but a very light sweater, and I doubt that they would start making major modifications to what is one of their signature products.

As far as sleeve and body length go, tell them what you want and they should be able to hit it just right.

I love my Highwayman, and it fits great, but if I could go back in time I would probably get the bi-swing back option.

I was hoping the Highwayman could enable me to wear a heavy sweater underneath if I so chose, but now, knowing that it's more on the snug-fitting side, I think I'll need to consider other options. I'm looking for the versatility of a leather jacket that can be worn in colder weather. Thanks, again.

I should receive my Aero Highwayman from Mark Moye sometime this month. I am 6'2" and weigh 190 pounds. Normally, I wear a 44 long sports coat and wear a 16 or 16 1/2 X 36-37 shirt. My Highwayman will be a size 46 with 2" added to the sleeves and 1" to the length. Since I don't like for a jacket to fit like a "second skin" the fit should be dead on. I'll post when the jacket arrives.

All of Aero's jackets will be snug fit. Don't give up on the Highwayman, just because it is closely fitted. Just go up one size, or two sizes if you want to wear a heavy sweater under it. I don't like my jackets to fit like a "second skin" either; I like them to be a bit loose so I can move around.

The Highwayman, as are all of Aero products, is a good, thick, heavy duty jacket with excellent workmanship. I love mine. Just would like it a bit roomier for bike riding. But it is stretching out. I'm wearing it right now with a sweater underneath to stretch it some.

When I purchased my Highwayman I decided to go up a size to a 46" even though I usually take a 44" just to give me that little extra room incase I wanted to wear a sweater underneath.
This seemed to do the trick as it is a comfortable with a sweater or with just a t-shirt and the jacket doesn't look oversized wearing either......just something you might want to consider.
Also I think all Highwayman jackets come with internal storm cuffs as well but if you don't fancy these I'm sure Aero would leave them off on request.

All bike leathers I've ever encountered are cut very snug... this was once explained to me by someone in the trade as being to keep the rider as streamlined as possible, and minimise wind drag. I wear a 42R in a suit, but in any mc jackets I've ever owned I've had to go up to a 44, and at that they're still pretty snug. I shoulds have thought that somebody used to flying jackets, for instance, would tend to find that mc leathers are cut that bit tighter??
