Premier Vicenza Half Belt with Speedway Back

My latest jacket is here and I couldn't be happier, it turned out even better than I had hoped. Thanks to Carrie at Thurston and especially Julie Leitch at Aero who made it.

Specifics are as follows.
Black Vicenza
Size 40 tapered to a 38 waist.
Horizontal Chest pocket
Antique Brass hardware
Speedway Back

This was a remake of what was initially quite a different jacket, the first was a premier half belt size 38 in Seal Vicenza with an action back and was just plain too small across the shoulders. Nice jacket but just didn't fit.

Around the time I sent that back for a remake (you have to love the Thurston fit guarantee!) I picked up the board track racer in brown steer and I realised I have way to many brown jackets so the colour changed to black, I'm really happy I did.

For those that remember a while ago I did try to make an old LVC Aero Blue-Black Goat Speedway work but it was just too short for me to wear comfortably both on the back and sleeves despite loving the back design. The look of the ELMC Californian also with a somewhat similar design on the back had grown on me a lot recently. Thankfully Carrie was able to order the premier half belt with the back of the speedway. I also much prefer the relative position of the half belt on this jacket than the ELMC design, its always looked a bit to high to me.

One very interesting thing as can be seen in the photo below, the centre seem on the back is actually functional! I'm certain that this wasn't the case on the LVC/Aero Speedway!! A really nice surprise.

Anyway on to the fit pics. I really like the fit, trim but not tight. Its still obviously very new and the leather is very stiff but I like the lighter weight.

This is the first time since I got into this crazy addiction where I'm thinking.....maybe I don't need any more jackets.....well apart from the GoodWear that I'm on the waiting list for lol

That is superb mate! Congratulations on nailing everything! That is a benchmark jacket. No doubt about it. Makes me want to sell all mine and start again. It will look even better when you have bashed it up a bit.

Absolutely beautiful and great fit! Would love to see more pics as the vicenza starts to break in...I see a black vicenza in my future (as soon as I can scrape the cash together that is!)...

One of the details I forgot to mention that I really like is how on the back, the yoke seem runs directly onto the sleeve seem. Doesn't do this on the speedway pictures on the Aero site and it didn't on my old LVC either. Was a really nice touch.

Man, what a jacket... I love everything about it! Absolutely perfect in every way, not much else for me to add. And yeah, the back yoke running into the sleeve seam... Beautiful craftsmanship!

Wow, I keep staring at the back of the jacket... that's superbly done by everyone involved. Would love to hear more about the black Vincenza, and how it looks in person. Is this your second Vincenza now?

That's one of the things I can't get over. The design + craftsmanship on this one is off the charts.

Edit: The more I think about it, and looking at some of my jackets, that's really got to be very challenging to get those to line up. I have other jackets with similar seams and none of them match up, nor would I expect them to, frankly. A really special jacket.

That is a really great looking jacket. The Speedway back looks similar to that of my Pioneer, although I think the back yoke on your HB is higher than my Pioneer. I like the way your jacket drapes, a combination of excellent sizing and the Vicenza HH.

+1

Yeah, can't stop looking at that stitching. Insane craftsmanship! In case someone missed it, click on a photo for a high res version.

The first was the jacket that went back to be remade into this one but only actually have the 1 now in Vicenza. Tbh its so damn nice I'm almost tempted to get my teamster that is a touch too big remade with this leather!

The closest thing I can liken the feel to is goat, at least when it's new. It's lighter yet still somewhat stiff but I can tell it will be a fast break in.

My sole Vincenza is breaking in even better than I could have hoped, totally agree as to how nice this hide is... now that they are selling them to everyone we should start seeing lots more of them.

Fantastic looking jacket. The vincenza really offers a different look, doesn't it?

I agree, it's got a nice "inky" depth of colour? It's hard to articulate, particularly for non black jacket wearer. It reminds me a bit of theat blue/ black aero goat from a while back. Very very nice.

Beautiful looking and great fit. Like others, I especially like the back and how the yoke lines up with the sleeves. I agree with you that the lower half belt looks better than the higher designs. I'm going to look for that in my next jacket.

looks great! very stealthy color theme with all the hardware dark really cool.

maybe just the way you hold your arm or something, but the sleeves look different in length in the photo

That's fantastic mate, great fit, nice looking hide. It may take me a while to get used to the centre vent but I'm sure I will.

I've measured and remeasured a few times, there is about a 1/4 inch difference between the two sleeves.

I don't know, would anyone be worried about that?
