WONDERFUL! VINTAGE ALLEN EDMONDS 'MACNEIL' BROGUES. LIKELY PRE-1962.
Complete with shoe trees!

These lovely Allen Edmonds "MacNeil" brogues feature the legend "Nailless Heel Cushion" on the insole, which was a feature of Allen Edmonds footwear before 1962. It refers to the fact that the heel cushion is not nailed to the shoe, but, instead, is secured by a series of wooden pegs around its perimeter. The heel is further preserved by a metal cleat at the main wear point... sometimes known as the "suicide heel" as it tends to reduce the shoe's grip on slippery surfaces!
The shoes themselves are lovely--you'd never guess their age. They come complete with a set of period-correct vintage shoe trees.
The shoes are in Very Good/Excellent condition. One of the shoe trees has a fracture at the stress point in the heel--this doesn't affect its function, but it would be sensible to use these trees for longer term storage of your shoes where they won't receive repeated pulling, which is likely to cause the fractured tree to crack.
With trees, these weight 4lbs 3z; without, 2lbs 15oz. These are very solid shoes!
