There is actually another similarly painted cafe racer now on eBay (by an Indonesian seller), which makes the provenance of the one pictured earlier and referenced above suspect:

One of the coolest cafe racers I've ever seen:

I own this jacket. It was owned by Ed Kretz, Jr. I have letters from his grandson and the man that took Ed's place on the Johnson Motors team. They confirmed that it was Ed's jacket. Brooks asked me to let them have the jacket for a show but I wouldn't do that. Instead, they took the picture and displayed it at the show. https://www.americanologist.com/2015/05/brooks-leather-sportswear-made-in-usa/

Taubers size 48 heavy dark brown goatskin. I have noticed it's difficult to find Taubers jackets with longer sleeves. The sleeves on this Taubers measure 26.5 along the curve and the back measures 26.5 inches. The jacket fits more like a modern size 46 with is large for me but works. I can layer under and have great arm movement say to throw balls. Not labeled as goatskin but looks and feels like goatskin to me. I guessing 70s not much wear. The Canadian seller I bought the jacket from, recently had a similar jacket for sale sized 44 same proportions. I grew up with in ten miles of the Taubers factory in San Francisco.

Seems as though they do not exist now. Johnson's comes up when you search for them...
Nice jacket there in any case!

Agreed, the lining now is similar to the one I had on my Real McCoys which I sold, but the fit is infinitely better. The rework doubled the cost of the jacket, totally worth it.

Looks so much like the vintage Excelled in brown steer ( I presume !) I just received in Perth Western Australia today. From the forum classifieds via the UK. UK seller ( thanks mate !) had previously sourced it in the US of course. Sized as a 42 but fits like my Schott HH café racer which is a true 44". It is hanging/airing outside for a coupla days hoping the "vintage aroma" dissipates a little and also while the Montana Pitch blend does it's thing on the leather/. I will post photos over this coming weekend...
