OK, so here's the progress I've made so far with the Parabuntal. It's still rough. I started with steam and then progressed to dampening with water on just a portion of the brim.

Not sure if I want to get this professionally blocked or leave it rough. As is, I can use it as a hiking hat and take advantage of how it rolls up so tightly into that cool tube. If blocked nicely, I won't want to roll it up again.

Oh, the troubles...

:D

Posted this in the Penman thread as well but since its new to me I thought to share it here.

This is a restored GREEN whippet with vintage ribbon and new sweatband. John did a great job on this.

Photos with and without flash for true color contrast

I'd get it blocked professionally. As it is, it looks all right, but I get the feeling that with a hat like this, it could look much better. I'd go the professional route. -M

New VS

My new VS arrived on Friday. It is the Wall Street block in charcoal dress weight with a 5 3/4" crown and 2 1/2" brim. I asked Art to use the 20 ligne "graphite" ribbon that he had recently put on Stylin' LA's hat and at the last minute I asked Art if he could do something pleated on the bow. Since this was my third VS, I wanted something special. This hat is gorgeous and I was pleasantly surprised with Art's work on the ribbon. Thanks, Art! I love it and can't wait for #4!

Bolstered by some advice kindly tendered by AlOjeda, I was able to iron out the brim and somewhat improve the shape of the crown.

Now we have a straw man for our arguments.

Looking good, Gene!

Flechet

This Flechet arrived today. Wonderful french version of the playboy. I'm guessing late 40's on this one.

No hats for you......

But I did get a box of flanges today.

Rundown on markings:
1. 2 1/2 2 3/4 7 847
2. 2 7 1/4 561
3. SNAP 7 1/2 2 1/4 2 3/8 Saxe Freeman Co Omaha
4. 29 7 5/8 2 1/4
5. 561 7 1/8 2 3/8

I'm assuming the "SNAP" mark is a reference to a snap brim??

Viperman - Great VS!
buler - You're going to have o set-up a hat factory soon.

Today my Adam Regent Boater turned up, it has a slightly grimy pug instead of a ribbon so I'll need to do something about that not sure about age yet. It was advertised as a 7 3/8 turned out to be a 7 1/2. Doesn't fit too bad though.
