I got this custom Whippet in from @belfastboy yesterday.

Robert was a joy to work with, and we designed a hat that came out beautifully. I had thought to pick a silverbelly felt, but in the end we decided the slighter darker tan-colored felt works better with the dark brown contrasting crown and brim ribbon, which really worked out, in my opinion. Then when we chose the liner material, against the felt and that dark sweatband, everything just clicked into place.

Well packaged, and with a custom brim block included. Thanks Robert. I love this hat.

Got this hat in yesterday. This is a maker been interested in for a while, and I'm happy to have found one on the secondary market.

The eBay listing described it as a 100% rabbit/hare blend, and I have no reason to doubt it. The felt is a little stiffer than I prefer, but it's still obviously a quality hat. I'd like to handle one of their 100% beaver hats someday to compare.

One thing that surprised me is that it doesn't naturally hold a deep, sharp pinch. That's interesting because it looks much more defined in the photos on their website.

I really like the tall crown, the wide ribbon, and the ribbon/felt color combination. The large double bow is a nice touch, and I like the dark liner too.

I think this is the first hat I own that's blocked noticeably higher in the front, and I like that for a little variety.

It doesn’t have a sweatband bow. Seems like an odd design choice. Also, there's a slight texture change over the stitch line that I don't remember seeing on other hats. If anyone knows what causes that, I'd love to hear. Maybe a coating meant to protect the stitches, or a slight scuffing of the material from the sewing machine?

I'll post one of Hufvud's photos of the Ragnar at the bottom for comparison. Curious what you guys think.

I have a Hufvud from 2020 and it also doesn’t have a back bow.

I really like the matching ribbon on this one. My guess is this is a 1960s hat constructed in the Brockville, Ontario factory in Canada. The liner tip features a beaver on the left and a Canadian maple leaf inside the shield, which I believe was exclusive to that factory. I believe the factory permanently closed in 1970.

I don't put backbows in when I replace sweats, either. Hope he doesn't sue me.

I guess I could always sew in a toothpick.
I have long felt 'leftout' as I wanted to place something interesting and unique in my crown ribbons. But alas, EVERYTHING, has been thought of, copywritten, and off limits. So I am left outside, bereft, alone with my nose pressed against the glass looking longingly into the circle.

Put something cool into our next one - I promise not to tell

I have a friend who has a Fouquete from a number of years back, paid $2200 and it is a poorly made hat by any measure. But, it does have a matchstick
I’ll pay 3k if you can get him to sign the matchstick - seriously, I’ve tried to find a Fouquet I don’t hate on TRR just so I can put my hands on one - and they just don’t exist - they are all costume cartoon hats

First Stetson on the way. Straw Small contemporary low end "Panama"?
I see a version on Stetson retail about $135. It was $25 + $6 shipping so I popped on it.
Looks like new cond.
M is 7 7 1/8 so maybe on the big side? S is 6 3/4 - 6 7/8. I can return it & with a cloth sweatband I figured it's worth a shot. Not sure of the brim hopefully at least 3 1/4 inch.

Does it look like a nice hat? Figured I couldn't go wrong as it will be useful as long as it fits.

Similar hat but brim looks smaller at 3 inch. Looks like mine has more elaborate circular weaving design on the brim & likely an older version.

Arrived today. Not great. Thrown in a box with no packing materials. Box wasn't even closed well as the tape was loose.
The point on the crown in the front is damaged & the straw is separating. Not sure it is was from tossing in the box but it shows the straw is dried out as is the leather rope tie which is stiff & cracking. It wasn't expensive ~ $30. I wanted a flop around hat but I don't think this cuts it. It fits as it has a cloth sweatband but it's not in the excellent condition as described & isn't a durable hat. It's packed ready to return to sender.

Another Resistol Shantung coming into the stable. I'm loving the Conley 20X. Replacing the bad Stetson with another Resistol Shantung from the days when they were harder straw. Think it's 80's or early 90's. Don't want to go too old as then have trouble with leather sweat bands but this one looked new & it was a price I couldn't resist. Black studded leather band but no air holes. It's a 5 Star. Just was so primo I had to adopt it. 7 long oval. The 7 regular oval has been fitting ok so hope it's fine. Just a summer work hat but the older straws seem to be made pretty well. This is when they used stars instead of X but I suppose it's like an X. Really want to find a primo is more with a vented woven straw design. This one is not one of those George Strait that Resistol pushes so many of.

I can't remember but the size tag of 7 without the 56/7 is an older tag design. Not sure when they started adding the metric on the tag.
