1950s 3X Stetson made for VIP members of the American Royal Livestock & Horse Show in Kansas City.
The sweatband has been replaced with a comfy new one but I have the original stamped Emery Bird Thayer which was a department store in KC.
Beautiful piece.
Always loved the embroidered Last Drop liner

Good to see you, Ant. Take a look at this post and read on down to see a couple more American Royal labeled hats.

Added a 2nd Resistol Shantung Panama aka the vinyl coated paper.

Tycoon Sz 7 / 3 1/2 inch brim is the style I love w teardrop pinch front. Almost like new & probably from the 90's.
$20 plus an outrageous $30 shipping... Oh well, dimensions LXW were spot on so it should fit.

Glam shots... Really should be very useful for when a large 4 plus in brim is too much.

$47 new

I canceled the hat. The more I looked at the flat straw & the weave it just seemed to become flimsy. I canceled in a few hours & it went through. I really don't want hats that are not returnable if they are too big or not of the quality I thought. I suppose it would have been a great hat for a hot sunny day. Really was very decent but I saw another Shantung Panama that looked like a better material & weave even though they are the same grade.
The right just looks like it has more body & it definitely in a better shape teardrop. I thought it also had a finer weave & the spacing could make the hat cooler. These hats are vinyl coated & the paper with vinyl coating could make it feel like wearing a plastic hat. The 20X Conely last photo I ordered has lots of airholes but I'm more fond of the tear drop than the cattleman crease. I really need to stop & step back to get my bearings.

I hope I didn't make a mistake. Which is the better weave...pic 1 or 2?

New production Art Fawcett arrived today. I asked him to make one in 7 3/8 for me, and he was kind enough to oblige. @Art Fawcett thank you sir.

I stepped out into the drizzle to get the action shots. It hurt my feelings, but this is a big-boy hat - it will be alright

Since Art also occasionally has ribbons available on eBay, I asked him if he would make a ribbon up for me and he did - beautiful burgundy ribbon, thanks again. :)

Very nice, but just for me: didn't Art Fawcett retired or does he still make hats? Or do i not understand this well?

From what I understand, and don’t quote me, he makes about a hat a week working with a friend as a favor, and he’s working with the tools and materials that he has available. Not really doing custom orders; just posting one up on eBay every now and then.

I just messaged him after he popped in here and let him know that if he wanted to make one in my size I was interested and I’d be happy with whatever he wanted to make.

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation!
