A nice homburg is a good way to finish this haul. Morreton homburg in a brown colour called Bombay. Size 57 with the bound brim at a generous 6,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. This one has a chamois finish, which is quite unusual for a homburg.

Resistol Pace-Setter
Brownish Grey Felt with purple undertones
4 3/4 Crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 Open)
2 5/8 brim with offset brim binding
1 5/8 grosgrain ribbon

As I was posting a few items up for sale on Facebook Marketplace for a friend I came across this Resistol on my timeline. The condition wasn’t the greatest in the photos and I almost passed it on by but a couple things caught my eye. First it was listed as Resistol Pace-Setter and I’ve mostly seen Pacesetter as a Stevens Hats model, so it peaked my interest. Second, while Resistol is known today more for its westerns… in this era they also made some very fine dress hats. As evidenced by the few Beaver 15 Kitten finish hats I currently own, which are some of the finer hats in my collection. As fine as they are though, they all have the newer Resistol logo with the round O believed to have started around the mid 1950s. I did not however have one with the older diamond shaped O so for the super low price it was offered I decided to snap it up and fill that box.

Upon arrival as assumed from the photos it needed a good cleaning up… brushing out a big cloud of dust, steaming and reshaping. But the end result, I think is wonderful. The felt is a slightly brownish grey that shifts color in various light and appears sometimes to have some purple undertones. The grosgrain ribbon and brim binding are a light almost silver tone with a somewhat antiqued patina. The hat was sold originally at The Bon Marché men’s corner in the Seattle, WA area for $10 according to the hand written tag I found inside the sweat. The manufacturing label indicates 7 1/4 but it fits somewhere closer in between 7 and 1/8. It’s a really great hat and I’m happy to give it some new life.. and it has been with me on my adventures this weekend.

You're on a roll with all the new hats, Stefan.

Love them all, but this Morreton is my favourite: I think :)
