Meet the new boss.... Stetson Royal Deluxe St. Regis - this time light grey with a black ribbon. The hat is nicer in real life than the pictures suggested. I was anticipating sending it to someone for a professional overhaul (within reason) but I think it's wearable right out of the box. My pictures are nicer to the hat than the ones on eBay were, thank you to the seller. Much nicer to be pleasantly surprised.

Looks like vintage 7 1/2-5/8 is my zone, just depending on how the hats survived the decades. I love this thing. :)

Anybody really good at dating these things and wanna take a crack at it? I looked all around under the sweatband and that dang sticker seems to missing on this one as well. I just noticed I need to get a better picture of the crest, but it's in color, at least some color. Another hat came in this week.
Echter Mayser Superbe (special quality) in brown. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Wonderful hand to the felt and the couple of moth nibbles on it don't detract from it.

Just got this Stetson delivered about an hour ago. Probably one of t condition hats I’ve received. Practically looks new and hardly worn. All it needed was a good brushing. It’s a 7 and I’m a 6 7/8, but nothing some paper towel behind the sweatband couldn’t fix. I paid $50 for this on eBay. It does look darker in person than the photos make it look. Extremely happy with this purchase!

I was excited to be getting this one in and now that I have it and have steamed and cleaned it up a bit, it is a great hat. A Dunlap Triumph, my first Dunlap. It is a thick felt, with a moldable crown, and I always love a shark gill ribbon. It has a 2 3/8" "Super Sonic Edge" brim and 4 1/2 crown interior, as creased.

TRR Optimo Arrived :)

I love this hat. It's a 59, so a bit tight. Fun fact I recently discovered; I can get Optimo to renovate it for me. Reblock it bigger, etc. etc. depending on what they think is doable and/or not insane :) . Of course, I could buy a couple vintage hats for what it would cost, but I'm going to be in Chicago this summer and I'm planning on going by the shop and seeing what I can see.

This thing looks a lot like a customized Bulldog, as someone was kind enough to bring to my attention. I left the shark gill shot a little big so you can get better detail if you like. This is my first hat with a shark gill ribbon, and this hat actually has three rows of stitching on the brim, which isn't very obvious in the photos. The hat is warmer than it looks in my photos. Let me know what you think. :)

Two more new scores, grouped together under 1940's finds (from what I can tell) that I had to give gas baths to yesterday. First. A brown, (very soft!) bound edge Cavanagh and a light gray Baxter Hats fedora, also in bound brim. Both with the patina that comes with their age.

Baxter seems to be a rare one, last posted about by John Galt in 2014, he identified them as a 1940's era manufacturer.
