Here is a fedora I picked up a couple of months ago. It is a left over from last years catalog. My wife really likes this hat so I am compelled to work it into the rotation some time this season.
Cashmere felt , 3 inch brim by Guerra.

The felt is soft and feels good to the touch. The construction is satisfactory. This is not a hat for the elements! A pure fashion hat. I will keep you posted on how well it wears.

C. G. Wilke possibly early 1930s. The paper label is missing but I think it might be a "Bürstel Electra". Really fantastic Rust color Velour. The Velour Felt is very pliable with a good amount of gloss. I made a trade with Panos back in April and I forgot to take photos of this hat. Panos was kind enough to send me some photos a couple days ago so I decided to post it here and on my website.

Second chapter dedicated to unknown Italian hatters.

Its twin was born a year earlier at the end of 1949, this sees the light at the end of 1950 in Milan this same day

It is the work of the Pagani & Messaggi hatters in Milan

Certainly this has been more used than the one shown last week in black felt

You can tell by some signs of wear on the lining and some parts of the felt, but they arrived in great shape after more than seventy years. The differences between the two hats are minimal

The felt in this one is thicker and slightly less malleable than the other.

The color is a burnt brown with same color ribbon and bow always frayed. The proportions are almost the same: the raw brim is 6cm, the ribbon is 3cm and the open crown is 14cm.

The finishes are excellent and the Moroccan has the same front air intake with Art Nouveau themes adorning the series of holes. Checked silk lining

I sincerely hope to continue this chapter of Italian hat makers outside the big hat industries of the peninsula

Here's my latest - a Borsalino Bellagio, which I ordered from Del Monico Hatter in Connecticut last Thursday. It arrived in just four days to California, which is pretty darned good, I think. It was delivered this evening by USPS at 5:45pm (ordered after 9pm last Thursday, 11/10/22). So, it must have shipped the next day (Veteran's day!).

My first impression? The fit is true to size. My noggin circumference is exactly 59cm, and that's what I ordered, and the fit is spot on. I recently ordered a Stetson Pure Stratoliner in 7 1/2", and it was just a bit large, but was easily adjusted with sizing tape, but this Borsalino doesn't need that.

One thing I noticed right away is that the Borsalino is MUCH more malleable than the Stetson. The Stratoliner is a nice hat, and is significantly stiffer in the crown and brim. The Borsalino really *wants* to be shaped a bit to your head, which I find quite nice, actually. It came with a straight crease down the longitudinal axis of the crown (sort of like an Open Road style), and I prefer a teardrop crown, so I just mushed it around a bit, and it shaped right up quite nicely.

My wife says she prefers the Borsalino, so perhaps this is the one I'll take as a traveling hat. The dark grey color is a pretty neutral tone that should go with most sport coats, winter coats, or jackets I wear.

The felt is nice and soft to the touch, and the hat is quite light on the head, which I also like. It does not have the 'snap' of the brim as my Stetson Stratoliner does, but it keeps its shape just fine. The wider hatband definitely gives it a bit of a 'G-man' vibe, but I quite like that. The Stetson's narrow hat band gives it a much more "Western" look, which I also like, since, well, I live in the West, in a rural town, so it fits right in. The Borsalino will fit in just fine, but it is a bit more formal in appearance, I think.

I'll be wearing it to work tomorrow, so we'll see how it wears. Cheers, all!

Slater in dark grey. It's Italian and i think it's a Barbisio or Cervo. Good proportions and soft felt.
There is a label under the lining, but i can't read it, because the lining is glued over the label i think.

The second hat today was gifted to me together with the Slater. Don't know what brand it is. It feels very soft, looks it's furfelt not wool, no lining, no label. Not exactly my kind of hat, but heeey, it,s only gifted ;-)

That's an interesting hat. I haven't seen one with a seam right down the middle like that. I'm not sure I'm a fan of it, since even the slightest deviation in dents or shapes makes it look off-kilter, but not necessarily in a casually-unkempt way... I do dig that color, and the longer felt hairs, though.

Interesting it is, but i'm also not a fan of it. But it wears very comfortable i have to say The colour is great and the felt too.

French hat branded "D'Aubignac Chapeliers a Drancy - France" specially designed for the Italian retailer Schettini with shops in Milan and Pavia.

The hat, called Cly Chy, has luxurious finishes and features a purplish silk interior with a sweatband of the same color

The hat is gray with a dark blue ribbon

The shape and the ribbon are those of a 1930s hat, with a rounded shape in the crown and with narrow brims and a high ribbon, also equipped with an anti-wind cord

Very beautiful and well finished, it has a special allure

This is the premise, but in my long attendance at French hat making I have never come across this brand and even the research done on the subject made me take a long tour of French history a few centuries ago, without results.

I forgot to say that Drancy and Clychy are two municipalities in the north of Paris about fifteen kilometers apart

Digging under the beautiful sweatband held together by a masterful sequence of stitches, I find this label that reveals an Italian hat badly disguised as a French one

The felt is "Bismuto" and the ribbon color is "Opale". These are the "imposter's" measurements: the brim is 5 cm, the ribbon is also 5 cm and the open crown is 13.5 cm.

This is the story of the hatter D'Aubignac who lived in Alessandria-Italia instead of Drancy-France

That is amazing, it's an amazing hat too, one that I would be proud to wear, even with it's plagiarised credentials.

I’m a sucker for hats with mojo. Sears Roebuck and Co., from an estate. Broken in like a loved pair of shoes or baseball glove. The previous owner’s business card still behind the sweatband. Sun-faded ribbon and a size too big for me but I like it quite a bit. I’ve got a friend in the textile business who made me some sizers for behind the sweatband in case I ever need them. They came in handy with this one.

These 2 Borsalino's came in today. The seller measured a 58 so i took the change. She said there are no labels inside. What do i see? Size 5 label in the brown one. So both way too small for me, also a small brim. Not a great buy for me...... :-(

Wow - you'd think the seller would have known better. Sorry for your disappointing outcome.

I bought a Stetson with no label last summer that was measured by the seller at 59 but in reality is 56. It makes me hesitant to take a seller's word for anything.
