As suspected this is a stunner of a hat, Marcel. Quite an early one too by the looks of it. Forties I think, might even be late thirties.

My new 3X OR showed up today, what a great hat! I'm so excited I found a long oval. It's still not quite as long oval as my head but definitely an improvement or the reg oval size. It is in great condition, could use a little cleaning and the ribbons need smoothed out from being squished a little in the box. More in the Open Road thread.

Congrats - nice! I'm a long oval too, and I'm used to having to steam my hats into a longer shape to fit my head. Then behold - I recently stumbled onto an old extra long oval that fit so nicely I could almost hear angels sing. Those hats are magical for those of us with long noggins. I'll say it again - The hat looks great!

Picked this up today.

Doesn't have any tag under the liner, so I'm not sure of the age or style, but Porter's moved from 120 to 828 N. Stone in 1963 - although they probably still had a bunch of hats with the old address on them.

Ja, basting stitches are the pre stitches put in place to set the ribbon and bow. They're meant to be removed once the "true" stitches are set.

Stefan has more or less nailed the time frame. Daniele can hopefully help place it more precisely.

Love this style. Mid-width (for a western) bound brim and a grosgrain ribbon with a fedora type bow. A great find.

Really beautiful felt, but a little stiffer.

Barbisio in dark blue (almost black), no label but a nice red lining inside. Softfelted.

Great haul of hats, Marcel. I like the Barbisio pin on the Cervo as well. Never seen that one before.

Anderson in black. No label behind the sweat. Again with a beautiful feather behind the bow, which i am glad i can remove
It's my 2nd Anderson.

Barbisio in brown. There was something of a label behind the sweatband, but the lining is glued on it.

Another Barbisio in brown, but this one is a Sportex. No label.

And again a brown Barbisio. No label. Felt is great, fit is perfect, but the hatband is not the best unfortunally. I think it had at first another hatband because i see some color difference by the hatband.
